Geelong, next to Great Ocean Road
#celebratewithtrip
Geelong, The Waterfront esplanade has a 19th-century carousel, plus a curved art deco boardwalk and sea bath at Eastern Beach.
Scattered along The Waterfront are the Baywalk Bollards, colourful sculptures chronicling city history. A city next to GOR, you could actually travel between Geelong Docklands via Port Philip Ferries, the price is affordable! Definitely worth it.
Had a relax walk in Geelong waterfront, unfortunately the day we went was shower, we could still feel the cold temperature during this Spring. Looking forward for Port Philip Ferries next trip! #tripblazers #geelong #melbourne #relax #waterfront #spooktaculartrip #fallingforfall #awesomepic #portphilipferries #docklands #spring

Nice view at Geelong
I have been to Geelong for the White Night event. I found that the view is really good, especially the ocean view. The weather is colder if compared with city.
White Night at Geelong
I have been to Geelong for the White Night event. It is not crowned if compare with CBD. White Night is back and returning to Geelong to light up your night with vibrant visual art, music, light projections and family fun.

One of the best water park in Victoria. There are epic water slides, action rides and amazing events. Perfect for summer weather to soak in water.
The closest amazing beach to swim near Melbourne, Geelong!!💕 I can't even count how many times I went to Geelong cuz I used to go there to swim every weekend. The main beach was surrounded by this little small hill and the beach has amazing stuffs like 5m of diving poll, and the floating wooden trail to take a walk on the beach! Oh are you going there with kids or are you afraid of beach? Don't worry there's this little pool for kids and parents, indeed there is shower facility too ☺️ It absolutely is the best destination for summer picnic and oh! I almost forgot to tell you that they have this ferris wheel which is amazingly fun too! Don't forget to try fresh fish&chips along the beach as well🤤

Arrive in Melbourne, pick up the car at the airport and head straight to Geelong, which is the first stop on our Great Ocean Road.
Geelong is the second largest city in Victoria after Melbourne. It is the entrance to the Great Ocean Road. There are beautiful beaches. The biggest feature is the lovely human-shaped bollard on the shore.
Today's weather is superb, the blue sky and the blue sea are in a line. This is just the round-the-island cycling race. The roads along the coast are surrounded, and there are various entertainment activities on the side. A lot of prizes.
One-day tour of Geelong, Australia
🏞【Destination Guide】
Geelong is located 76 kilometers southwest of Melbourne and is the entrance to the famous Great Ocean Road. It is also the largest wool distribution center and wool textile industry in the country, and a gathering place for meat processing industry. The top-quality wool produced in Geelong is popular both locally and abroad. At the same time, the beautiful coastline and artistic painted dolls attract a large number of tourists.
🌟Highlights:
The first stop in Geelong must be the "Australian National Wool Museum". It is located in the center of Geelong. The museum details the history of Australian wool spinning and the impact of the wool spinning industry on the entire national economy. There are many exhibits in the museum, some of which even allow you to touch them by hand to feel the quality difference of different types of wool. In addition, there are souvenirs for sale on the first floor of the museum.
Next, how can you miss the famous "Geelong Waterfront" when you come to Geelong? Take a walk, picnic, swim, surf, ride a bicycle, or take a yacht to the sea. Along the way, you can also see 100 colorful dolls scattered in the waterfront area, with rich shapes, bright colors, and unique features. This is a major feature of Geelong and should not be missed!
The picturesque seaside city, the uniquely shaped painted dolls, the unique local food (it is recommended to stay more in the center of Geelong, there are many local western restaurants on the beach street, very delicious can taste), and the romantic Ferris wheel on the beach. Geelong is definitely your perfect holiday choice.
Detailed address: Geelong VIC 3220 on the Great Ocean Road
Traffic strategy: It is recommended to drive by yourself, at the entrance of the Great Ocean Road, 1 hour drive from Melbourne.
Small Tips: Museum souvenirs will be more expensive, you can compare three, rational consumption.
Geelong Waterfront
The Geelong Waterfront is a tourist and recreation area on the north facing shores of Corio Bay in Geelong, Australia. The area was once part of the Port of Geelong, falling into disuse before being redeveloped during the 1990s. The public pool entrance is free and a great place to cool down in the summer months. At any time, it’s lovely to pack a picnic basket and simply enjoy the beautiful Geelong waterfront and enjoy the sunset.
Attractions:
The Baywalk Bollards were created by local artist Jan Mitchell in the mid-1990s, with the timber painted sculptures reflecting local history and identities. Over 100 in number, they are installed right around the waterfront between Rippleside and Limeburners Point.
Deakin University's Waterfront Campus and Costa Hall are located on the western side of the precinct. The campus accommodates around 1500 on-campus students studying programs in Architecture, Construction Management, Nursing and Occupational Therapy.
Yarra Street Pier is located at the end of Yarra Street and features a number of restaurants, as well as being the departure point for helicopter joyflights.
The Geelong Flyer operated by Port Phillip Ferries has daily public ferry departures from Geelong (Steampacket Pier) to Docklands in Melbourne.
Cunningham Pier offers 'The Pier' a social venue.
Steampacket Quay is located at the end of Moorabool Street and provided as sheltered location for ferries, seaplanes and other watercraft.
The Carousel Pavilion houses a c.1892 Armitage-Herschell steam-driven carousel, c.1888 steam engine and a part-original, part replica 1898 Gavioli Band organ in a modern glass and steel building. The carousel has been restored and consists of 36 horses and 2 chariots. The historic carousel still comprises 24 original horses and the rest were built again. It was originally built in New York and was then shipped to Australia in 1920s.
The Royal Geelong Yacht Club was established in 1859, and is located on the shores of the bay. The adjacent Bay City Marina was constructed in the 1980s.
Eastern Beach is a popular swimming and recreation area close to the centre of Geelong.
When visiting Melbourne, it’s definitely worth a day trip to Geelong which is only about an hour’s drive from CBD Melbourne or simply jump on the train which takes just a little over an hour from Southern Cross station.

RYDGES GEELONG
We had some issues with the wifi not working, so we couldn’t connect to the KODI remote, and the fire alarm went off a couple of times, however, there has been massive floods throughout Victoria & Geelong, so it’s affected everything including power, internet, etc! So it’s definitely not the hotels fault!
We enjoyed our stay, and it was nice to have just some us time, and apart from the floods causing issues, it was a nice hotel to stay in and we really enjoyed it! The king bed was massive and comfortable.
AMAZING GEELONG TRIP!
amazing Geelong vacation booked through Trip.com, amazing stay! amazing staff
Geelong in Australia is located near the sea, but also extends far into the country side, so rural life is close at hand. The weather is lovely in the Spring and Fall so exploring the outdoors is easy to do. Great easy outing. #wintergetaway

When you open the first stop of the Great Ocean Road, you will often choose to go to Geelong with a variety of painted puppets. It is said that there are tourists who specialize in playing cards and pledge to shoot all the puppets.
Although it is the second largest city in Victoria, but in our eyes, it is a leisurely town. In the evening, take a walk along the coast and watch the locals bring children and dogs to the park after work, and girls. They are doing yoga against the sea breeze, and the local government has even set up a calm sea surface to make a public saltwater pool...
This indescribable tranquility and leisurelyness really makes people feel like they want to live for a long time. However, it is estimated that I can only think about it...
