It's best to go during the day when the sun is shining, the light is especially beautiful for photos. After visiting the church, there is a sugar cane explosion!! The Sacred ❤ Cathedral ⛪

This is an actual church church 🙃 that still holds services🙏🏽. It was a shocker because I was not aware of that until I got there and they were in the middle of worship, felt a bit awkward because I was just there for sightseeing. So I attached the mass schedule for those interested to attend. Aside from that, it's an interesting place to view the architecture in my non-professional architectural advice 🤭. Located in the Yuexiu district, transportation I think is easy. A cathedral in the middle of a modern city

It is quite incredible to see a building like the Sacred Heart Cathedral in the middle of Guangzhou, surrounded by normal buildings in a built up modern city it seems like this Church has been teleported out of europe and placed here. It is a spectacular cathedral exactly in the same style as many european cathedrals and it is in immaculate condition. The stained glass windows are very impressive and the inside is almost as impressive as the exterior. The church is active and holds christian mass every morning, mostly in Cantonese but they also hold Mandarin, Korean and English mass once a week on weekends. There was a wedding going on when we first arrived and they were taking group pictures outside so i wish all the best to the newlyweds in the picture. #staycation #guangzhou #church

weekender trip to the city is always a breeze.. this time I brought a friend who never been to older part of the city and she like to have a look at the famous Stone House a.k.a the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It's located at the northern bank of the Pearl River, at 56 Yide Rd (一德路56号). Although I have been here for several times.. the magnificent masterpiece never failed to impress me. I get to know its one of the few cathedrals in the world to be entirely built of granite, including all the walls, pillars, and the twin towers. absolutely grand right? Built in 1860s, it is the largest roman Catholic church in the Guangzhou archdiocese and the largest cathedral in the Gothic style in China as well as Southeast Asia. The cathedral is 32.85 metres wide, 77.17 metres long, and the twin towers rise 52.76 metres high. There's this cafe right in front of the Cathedral, where one can have coffee in a nice spacious surroundings with the view of the cafe. And sometimes I felt it's quite the feeling of Parisian atmospheric overlooking the towers of the cathedral. definitely recommended!

Apparently the largest all-granite church in the world, the Gothic cathedral, nicknamed the Stone House, 石室, was first constructed in the 1860s, led by French missionaries. At the time, its spires towered over the surrounding buildings and locals allegedly feared it would damage the feng shui of the area. Now it is dwarfed by nearby skyscrapers and cannot be seen from very far, but once on the square, it still dominates its immediate neighbourhood. It was damaged in the Second World War and used as a warehouse during the Cultural Revolution, but it has since been well restored, including new stained glass windows and a better quality roof. The sharp double spires have become a symbol of Guangzhou, featuring alongside Canton Tower and the Five Goats statue in Yuexiu Park in posters and advertising throughout the city. The cathedral is sometimes open for sightseeing or private prayer between mass, but the main gate seems to be open somewhat sporadically. The square outside the gate is the best place to view the whole façade though and is a popular spot for selfies in Old Canton. The Sacred Heart Cathedral is a short walk from Haizhu Square 海珠广场站 and Yidelu 一德路站 metro stations. The food quality of the buffet also excellent. The range of selection is vary with different type of foods! I like they have a lot of fruits and hot plates. I had no plans for the morning, so I took a bus to visit the Sacred Heart Cathedral near the hotel. The cathedral has a history of over 130 years and is a Gothic structure with twin spires. It is the largest stone-structured Catholic building in Southeast Asia and one of the four all-stone Gothic cathedral structures in the world. Since all the walls and pillars of the cathedral are built with granite, it is also known as 'Stone House' or 'Stone Chamber Sacred Heart of Jesus Cathedral,' comparable to the famous Notre-Dame de Paris. June 28, 1863, was the Feast of the Sacred Heart in Catholicism, when the foundation stone ceremony was officially held, and it was named Sacred Heart Cathedral. The stained glass windows, murals, and sculptures inside the cathedral are all artistic treasures worth taking a close look at. The cathedral is also equipped with a mechanical clock, with pendulums several meters long, and the winding weight is as high as three stories off the ground, weighing nearly 1 ton. It chimes every hour from 9 am to 10 pm. After visiting the cathedral, I went out to the street for some dessert, then hurried back to the hotel to get ready for the next departure.
