Damnoen Saduak Floating Market Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Float along Damnoen Saduak with Trip.com 🛶
I booked a day trip to the floating market and the train market through trip.com. We booked for a private transfer to both markets. We were picked up from our hotel at 9am and taken to both. Our driver spoke good English and was also very kind and helpful. He made sure we were comfortable and shared a lot of information with us about both markets.
The floating market was super busy (we arrived around 11:30). We were taken to the boats and driven along the canals until we reached the shopping area.
If you want to stop and look at the stores, you need to speak up! The same goes for food and drinks. Otherwise you’ll float along without the chance to see much. 🤭
Note that most stores have similar items to sell and the price is higher, but it is on the water, and there are many tourists. You can use your bargaining skills to barter with the store owners.
We didn’t get the chance, but you can also get off the boat along the canals and eat at local restaurants there! #mytravelhacks #trip #thailand #thailandtravel #floatingmarket #holidayvacation #bangkok
Is it worth to visit Thai floating markets?
First of all is important to know that when You go to Bangkok there are many floating markets. The famous one is called Damnoen Saduak, It takes around 1.5 hours to get by car.
Is worth to spend around 2 hours and if possible rent a boat to bring You inside the market and have a full experience of It. But if You prefer also can just walk around the market, all site are accessible by walking.
If You rent a car is important to know that the drivers might try to bring You to some different area from this market and try to sell You another market activity saying that the market can not be acceded by walking. If It happens just show Him the map where You wanna go and tell Him that before come You had searched about It and You know how it works!
By the way is a nice activity to know more about the local culture and old costumes.

Mae Klong Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
MUST VISIT before you die: Maeklong Railway
#wheretogo
The Maeklong Railway Market, also known as the Maeklong Market or Talad Rom Hup in Thai, is a unique and vibrant market located in Maeklong, a town in the Samut Songkhram Province of Thailand. What makes this market particularly famous and fascinating is the fact that it is situated directly on an active railway track.
The market is situated about 72 kilometers southwest of Bangkok, making it a popular day trip destination for tourists visiting the capital city.
It is an open-air market that sells a wide variety of fresh produce, seafood, meats, clothing, handicrafts, and other local goods. Vendors set up their stalls along the train tracks, creating a bustling and colorful atmosphere. When the Train approaches the vendors will move their goods (on wheel) backwards temporarily - happens 8 times per day. The space between the train and the stalls is minimal, and the clearance is just enough to allow the train to pass through. Everyone here knows when to move in, and the tourist follows.
💡𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭:
The train follows a fixed schedule with eight daily runs, departing at the following times: 6:20 am, 8:30 am, 9:00 am, 11:10 am, 11:30 am, 2:30 pm, 3:30 pm, and 5:40 pm as it travels through Maeklong Market. It is advisable to plan your visit in the morning hours, as the vendors typically close up shop after 3:00 pm, allowing you to witness the train passing through the market.
The Maeklong Railway Market offers a one-of-a-kind experience. It's a MUST-visit once in your lifetime.
📍Mae Klong Market,
Samut Songkram
(1.30-2 hours drive from Bangkok)
Maeklong Railway Market
Whilst this is not the most convenient place to visit, it is a must do once in a lifetime. Can be done in a day tour together with floating market. The train brushes again you while u stand at the sidewalk of the stalls but not to worry, it’s slow moving. Pro-tip to take nice photos and after train passes you jump onto the track and to have a photo with the train without risking your life. #wheretogo #bkk #mustsee #maeklong
Maeklong Railway Market - yes the real train market
#wecreate #maeklong #thailand #railwaymarket
Watching how the train passing thru hundreds of curious tourist and seller pulling down their canopies and once train passing thru, the vendors started pulling down the canopies really a sight to see. There is even a small smoothies cafe in the middle of the market and this is where we stop and have the best view of the entire train passing thru
Meaklong Floating Market
It’s our first time visiting a floating marketing and we decided on Meaklong amongst other options for floating markets. It cost about 1000 bhat per pax for the 1 hour ride down the river and floating homes. As we visited on a weekday, many shops were closed but the ride was peaceful and slow. Overall it’s a different experience from the busy downtown. Note that the journey from Bangkok city to Meaklong is about +1 hour, provided there isn’t a jam.

Hin Khao Ngu Park Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Stone park hike
The Khao Ngu range is a collection of small limestone mountains that rise from the plains. The Khao Ngu Stone Park is situated in a section of the range that was formerly a limestone quarry that has since been submerged. While it isn't breathtakingly beautiful, it is a pleasant spot to spend an hour or two. To avoid the sweltering heat of midday, visit early in the morning or late in the afternoon, like with other outdoor attractions in Thailand.

Khao Ngu Stone Park
Khao Ngu Stone Park is located about 8 kilometers away from Ratchaburi province, in Koh Phlapphla sub-district, Mueang district, Ratchaburi province. Inside this park, there are several archaeological tourist sites, which are caves on the mountain including the Ruesi Cave, the Fa Tho Cave, and the Chin-Cham Cave. Each cave is not far from each other, but it requires climbing up quite a high staircase. In the surrounding area, there are also many troops of monkeys living.
Unseen Phu Pha Rad... The Secret Artistic Corner of Ratchaburi
Located in the area of Khao Ngu Stone Park, Mueang District, Ratchaburi Province, this area was once a rock blasting concession hidden among the valleys for many years. The characteristic of this steep cliff reveals the beauty of the patterns and colors of the granite cliff face, which is a strong and durable rock. The locals metaphorically say it is as tough as a rhino, hence the name 'Phu Pha Rad'. In front of Phu Pha Rad, there is a deep water pond that was drilled with a 'Jumbo drill head' since the concession period, but some drill heads are still submerged and cannot be retrieved. The charm of Phu Pha Rad lies in its beauty at different times of the day, depending on the direction of the sunlight shining on each side of the cliff, and to catch the moment when the water is so still that it creates an Abstract-like reflection on the water surface. It is a work of art created by nature, a new wonder of Ratchaburi city that can be visited all year round.
