My Days in Europe ~ Alsace, Eastern France.
Rouffach is a quaint little town tucked away in the Alsace region of eastern France, just a single train stop away from the well-known Colmar. It's an incredibly rustic place with only one supermarket in the entire town. There are plenty of bed and breakfasts here, so I booked a B&B and cooked my own dinner every day. During the French summer, the sun doesn't set until around 10 PM, so I naturally ate dinner quite late. My daily routine was laid-back: I'd sleep in until about 11 AM, then head out to explore. Traveling south to Mulhouse, you're only about a 20-minute train ride away from Basel, Switzerland, which means there are tons of great spots to visit. Around 6 PM, I’d wander back to the B&B to start prepping dinner. Life there was wonderfully leisurely.

Revolving Around the Beauty of Architecture: Eyes – France
Stop: Château d’Isenbourg & Spa
Château d’Isenbourg, perched on the gentle slopes overlooking Rouffach in Alsace, is a place where history, elegance, and vineyard landscapes intertwine. Originally built on foundations dating back to Roman times, the château grew into a noble residence that welcomed kings and emperors across the centuries. Its elevated position offers sweeping views over the Alsatian plain, the Black Forest in the distance, and the rolling vineyards that have defined the region’s culture for centuries.
The architecture carries the charm of French refinement, with its elegant stone facades, graceful towers, and intimate courtyards. Inside, vaulted ceilings, antique furnishings, and richly decorated salons transport guests back to an era of grandeur. Yet today, Château d’Isenbourg has transformed from a stronghold of nobility into a haven of hospitality, offering a luxury hotel and spa that merge old-world beauty with modern comfort.
Wandering its terraced gardens or dining with views of the vineyards, visitors feel both the weight of history and the serenity of the surrounding landscape. It is not just a château but an immersion into the spirit of Alsace, where architecture, wine, and heritage blend seamlessly.
