Bamberg was founded in 1007 AD and is a city with a history of over a thousand years. It has experienced a glorious past and has been lucky enough to survive many devastating wars. Today, it still retains the original appearance of an early medieval city, presenting to the world the medieval churches, half-timbered houses, magnificent palaces, and rich German style.
Check-in spot
Bamberg Old Town
Small and exquisite medieval town, with a great atmosphere, where you can see many ancient buildings, beautiful and magnificent, strolling around is very pleasant.
Old City Hall
The municipal hall built on the river is probably the most eye-catching place in this small town. The surface of the building is covered with murals, and the details are vivid and full of artistic atmosphere.
Xin Gong Rose Garden
A super beautiful rose garden where you can see many different colors and sizes of roses. Perfect for a leisurely stroll in the afternoon.
Bamberg's Little Venice Klein Venedig
Here is also known as "Little Venice" by everyone. From here, you can see the beautiful scenery of the river and the old town. On both sides of the river, you can see many medieval houses and vintage bridges.
Bamberg Cathedral
The church was originally built in 1007, and after being burned down, rebuilt, burned down again, rebuilt again, and countless repairs, it finally took on its current appearance with a Roman-style exterior, Gothic spires, and a grand scale. Its surface is adorned with the traces of time.
Homestay
This time, the homestay we want to recommend to everyone still comes from [Airbnb], located in a very central area, making it very convenient for sightseeing.
Name: Barock Apartment am Alten Rathaus
Location: Highlight of the Bamberg KarolinenstraBe 1Z experience.
There are many popular attractions around the homestay, which are very suitable for friends who come to the town to check in.
The landlord is very nice and easy to contact. The room can accommodate up to 3 people in total, with high cost performance. You can see ancient buildings by opening the window, and the window view is very beautiful.
Wang Shugang 王书刚, Bamberg
The sculpture “Meeting“ by the Chinese artist Wang Shugang (chinesisch 王书刚), depicts eight lifesize squatting men, positioned in a circle on Schönleinsplatz Square near a busy crossroads in Hainberg park. There is a beautiful garden with another statue. The work of art is made of bronze, varnished in red and goes back to an exhibition in the year 2013, CIRCLES, when it was first shown in Bamberg. Thanks to private donations and private funding, the eight red painted bronze casts are now permanently in the city since year 2016. Relax the environment pleasantly. Definitely an eye-catcher.

Klein Venedig: Little Venice of Germany
The former fishermen's district in Bamberg's Island City is endearingly known as Little Venice (Klein Venedig). This district is characterised by half-timbered buildings that prop each other up and by tiny, pretty gardens.
Pretty houses by the river in Bamberg. Very nice ambience, it is best to walk upstream on the right so you have a very nice illumination of the houses that are directly on the water and remind a little of Venice.
You can rent a holiday apartment in "Ambiente Klein Venice".

😻The beauty of Little Venice is inseparable from the stone bridges that span the river and connect the two banks. They come in various shapes, some quaint and solemn, others light and agile, each one a fine piece of art.

Many places in Europe with water are called Little Venice, and the bank of the Legnitz River in Bamberg is no exception. At the foot of the old town hall, the originally rushing river flows to Little Venice and gradually becomes soothing and clear. The best place to stroll through Little Venice is on the opposite side of the Am Leinritt river. Little Venice is actually a former fishermen's gathering area in Bamberg. It consists of a row of beautifully decorated wooden houses, most of which are still in the Middle Ages. The small courtyard is also the berth of various boats, forming a beautiful and romantic landscape on the banks of the Regnitz River.
This is a row of low-rise half-timbered houses built along the eastern bank of the Regnitz River between MarkusBrucke and UntereBrucke. It is said that the first place where the fishermen and their families lived, the small houses were supported by a few woods inserted in the water, with small gardens and balconies in front of them, with flowers of various colors. To be honest, it is not like Venice at all, but no one cares about this. The entire Little Venice is suitable for standing on the other side of the river.
If you come to the river of Regnitz, you will appreciate the beauty of this water city. The high and low European buildings are next to the water's edge, and the flocks of waterfowl are low across the water. Under such beauty, you may Forget one thing: In these dazzling European-style buildings, there is actually a local prison in Bamberg. When the prisoners were sent to the execution ground, they also took this waterway.
In Germany, or even in Bayern, you may find it easy to find a city that is more beautiful than Bamberg, but no city can be like this, it will be a subtle blend of such beauty. It is hard to imagine that this is a small city with a population of less than 60,000. What kind of ideals existed in the past.

Old Town Hall on the bridge, Bamberg
One of the most important sights of Bamberg is the historic town hall. According to legend the bishop of Bamberg did not grant the citizens any land for the construction of a town hall. This prompted the townsfolk to ram stakes into the river Regnitz to create an artificial island between the two districts, on which the Bamberg Town Hall (Altes Rathaus )was erected.
We went to this old town hall in different timing - evening and morning. The pictures really look good in both timings. The most beautiful view of the town hall is from the Geyerswörthsteg south of the town hall. Another beautiful photo motif is the view from the eastern part of the Upper Bridge.

The Gothic old town hall was built in 1462. There are beautiful sculptures on the doorway of the bridge, and there are murals on the outer wall (there is a little angel who "extends the legs out of the wall"). The structure is very strange, it is located on the river and the bridge, like a moored ship. The wall is a beautiful mural. The best place to enjoy the
Old Town Hall is the short Geyersworthsteg pedestrian bridge on the Regnitz River in the southeast. Many postcards printed in the old town hall of Bamberg are taken on the bridge. . As long as you look at the footbridge before the afternoon, it is all right, it is very suitable for taking photos. It is worth mentioning that the walls of this old town hall are painted with exquisite murals. In addition to the flat murals, if you look closely, you can also see a little angel at the bottom of the mural, sticking his foot out of the wall and forming A 3D effect. And the relief on the bell tower is also very delicate.
was originally attracted by a photo of the old town hall under the blue sky and decided to come to Bamberg. When you witnessed it, the old town hall showed the typical German-style wooden truss architecture style, small and cute; the rivers on both sides rushed past, the gorgeous walls made people shine, and coincided with the Baroque style of the whole town. . The domineering power of the year, the city hall that forced the secular regime to build under the helpless situation, became a beautiful landscape of Bamberg after hundreds of years.
In addition to the old town hall itself, the scenery that looks out on both sides of the bridge will not disappoint. The well-developed water system is blessed by Bamberg. The Regnitz River flows from the southeast through the city centre, and the northwest of the city and the Main River converge near this small town. Many of the buildings in the small town are built on the waterfront, and people can come by the waterfront. Visitors who come here can take a stroll on the shore, or take a boat trip to see the scenery of the water on both sides of the Regnitz River.

St Michael's Monastery
The monastery is situated at the peak of the hill exhibiting a magnificent view of the city of Bamberg. The city is built over seven hills each with a church at its peak. The St. Michael's Monastery holds the highest altitude in comparison with the other peaks.
We went today but the church has been closed for several years due to the restoration. Good thing it has a very beautiful, well maintained garden.
It takes a good hike to come here but once you are on the top, you have a breathe taking view of Bamberg with the cathedral and residence shining in the background.
Great for a walk and to see a good view of the town from its garden.

Veste Coburg Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Not far from Nuremberg is a quiet town called Coburg. Unlike the old town and big city that I went to before, Coburg gave me the feeling that where did people go? Although the town is not big, but I have barely seen a few pedestrians, I am actually somewhat surprised, but more is a feeling of surprise. I don't like many people, so Coburg's desertedness is quite good. I walked in the quiet streets and lanes, so I could calm down and watch every building. I walked on the vicissitudes of the stone road and listened gently to this small. The history of the town.
Coburg Square: Compared to the square in Stuttgart, there are a lot of pockets, and there are not many tourists, but because of this, they have a rare and elegant atmosphere, sitting under the square statue and eating ice cream. Looking at the people who come and go, time should be so squandered.
Keborg Castle: Unique royal style, unique charm has been shining. The famous big castle built in the early 13th century stands on the top of the Maien Gorge in the Thuringian Forest and belongs to the rare mountain castle in Germany. The entire castle is free for visitors to visit except for museums. The museum collections include world famous paintings, glassware, ancient weapons and metal coins. Walking into the castle seems to step into the distant middle ages, the majestic castle gates, the majestic wall turrets, the magnificent palace buildings, the perfect courtyard design... all left a deep impression on people.
Bamberg: This small town is called Venice of Germany because its well-developed waterways, mainly the Rhine and Danube rivers, make Bamberg's water transport very convenient and common. The scenery is also very special.
Veste Coburg in the sunshine
Coburg, from the 16th century until 1918, was the capital of the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg. Prince Albert, the husband of Queen Victoria of England, hailed from this place. After the end of World War I in 1918, the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg was dissolved, and through a referendum, it was decided to join Bavaria rather than Thuringia. The result of this referendum led to Coburg being part of West Germany with Bavaria after World War II, instead of joining East Germany with Thuringia.
Coburg is home to the second largest existing castle in Germany: Coburg Castle
