Champagne Pool Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
🌊👙🍾 Champagne Pool
The Champagne Pool is a remarkable geothermal feature located in the Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland, near Rotorua, in the North Island of New Zealand. It is one of the most popular and visually stunning attractions in the region, drawing in numerous visitors each year.
The pool itself is a large, hot spring characterized by its vibrant colors and effervescent appearance, which is reminiscent of a glass of champagne. The name “Champagne Pool” is derived from the constant release of carbon dioxide bubbles that rise to the surface, resembling the effervescence of champagne.
The Champagne Pool is renowned for its extraordinary geological features. It measures approximately 65 meters (213 feet) in diameter and reaches a depth of around 62 meters (203 feet). The pool’s striking hues are caused by a combination of minerals and chemicals present in the water, including gold, silver, mercury, and arsenic, which create a mesmerizing blend of vibrant orange, green, and yellow colors.
The water temperature of the Champagne Pool is consistently high, hovering around 74°C (165°F). This extreme heat is attributed to the underlying geothermal activity that occurs deep within the Earth’s crust. The surrounding area is dotted with geothermal vents and geysers, contributing to the fascinating and otherworldly ambiance of the site.
The Champagne Pool is not only visually captivating but also holds great scientific value. It is considered a rare example of a hot spring with a silica terrace, which forms due to the gradual deposition of silica-rich minerals over an extended period. The silica terrace around the pool’s edge creates a beautiful and delicate rim, adding to the pool’s unique allure

Waiotapu Mud Pool Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
New Zealand is rich in geothermal resources, especially in the hot spring town of Rotorua, which hides a world-class national park, the wai-o-tapu geothermal park, which is surrounded by volcanic activity and surrounded by boiling mud. Like the gate of hell, it is a landscape that nature has formed over a hundred thousand years.
When you are in the park, you will smell a thick smell of rotten eggs. This is the unique smell of sulfur. Most of the plants are colored and their shapes are distorted, but there are other plants that thrive here and even have species. Birds are on the mud with such high surface temperature, looking for insects to forage, you will sigh the vitality of life, and the magical power of the earth.

It cost me the most expensive entrance fee, an adult wants 32.5NZD, but it is worth the money. The geothermal park is actually composed of two parts, one is the Lady
Knox Geyser area not far from the northeast of the visitor center; the other part is located at the southwest end. Tourist Park's main tourist area (ThermalPark).
The order of the tour is from the SH5 down to the main entrance, drive for two minutes, marked on the map of the Waiotapu
Thermal Track, there is also a mud pool Mud pool, which is the largest in New Zealand. The main tourist area is particularly large, divided into large circles and small circles. It takes nearly 2 hours to complete the big circle. It takes 45 minutes to take the shortest route and only visit the main attractions. The
Wai-O-Tapu Geothermal Park is a miniature Yellowstone Park that has been formed by thousands of years of volcanic activity. There are three very interesting geothermal pools inside.
One of them is Artist's Palette (artist's palette). The
name is very artistic, and the real color pool that you actually see is also like a palette. The different colors of the stroke in the water are due to different trace elements. Green is from ferrous salt, yellow is from sulphur, orange is from sputum, and brown is from iron oxide. The Champagne Pool is the symbol of the Wai-O-Tapu Geothermal Park and a place for Wu Qilong and Liu Shishi to take wedding photos.
There are many volcanoes and hot springs in the North Island of New Zealand, and Waiotap is the most famous geothermal park in the North Island. Because of the volcanic movement, the groundwater here forms a natural geothermal hot spring, and some can even reach 100 degrees, so we have to feel the magic of nature. Let's go here on New Year's Day holiday, take the children to feel the magic of nature and witness the best nature!
Wu Qilong and Liu Shishi filmed wedding photos here. Rotorua is a Maori language meaning double lake. The city is full of hot springs and the suburbs are densely forested. The lake is bright, the mountains are blurred, the birds are playing in the water, the seagulls are flying in the air, the air is sulphur-filled, the hot springs are muddy, and the mud is boiling. Walk in the park to enjoy the Champagne Pool, Steaming Ground, and soak. Bubbling Mud, colorful pools, expansive views, huge craters, unique ladders of molten pulp. When I left, I encountered a Bugatti classic car activity, and the saliva flowed to the ground.
