Duiyue Archway Review

"To Yuefang" is located in front of the Temple of the Virgin Mary in Taiyuan, is a large wooden archway that celebrates the virtue of the Virgin Mary. It was built in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty and has a history of nearly 500 years. It is well preserved and open for free.

I don't know if his name is called Yuefang or Feng Yuefang, I stood here stupidly for a long time. But not because of the name and feel confused and puzzled, but because the building is so characteristic, just a archway can become a historical artifact, enough to see its workmanship fine.

　　To Yuefang, is a chic, beautifully structured archway, located on the central axis of Jinci. There are two platinum characters in the middle of the square. The ancient books record that "yes" means "reward", "more" means "proclaimed", and "to the more" combines to repay the promotion of God's grace. To the more Jinci one of the three famous names, from the Ming Dynasty calligrapher Gao Yingyuan.

In the Ming Dynasty, a scholar named Gao Yingyuan, his mother suffered from migraine disease, he went to Jinci every day to worship the Virgin Mother, bless his mother's illness, and then his mother's illness gradually improved. In order to repay the Virgin Mother, he built a archway called Yuefang, and preached it. The more you repay, the more you preach the meaning of repaying your mother's morality, and inform people to be filial. On both sides of the archway, there are clock towers and drum towers for reporting time, ringing the bell in the morning and drumming at night.

"To Yuefang", beautiful shape, magnificent structure, fine sculpture. "To Yue" "Right" means to repay; "More", that is, Yang, means to promote. "To Yue" is a combination of the words, meaning "Reward for the ancestors' virtue", here means "Proclaim the noble mother's virtue". This archway is written by Gaoyingyuan, the font is atmospheric and vigorous.
