河北昌黎黄金海岸国家级自然保护区位于河北省东北部秦皇岛市昌黎县沿海，面积300平方公里，分陆域和海域两部分，其中陆域面积91.5平方公里，海域部分面积208.5平方公里。保护区的主要保护对象为沙丘、沙堤、泻湖、林带和海洋生物等构成的沙质海岸自然景观及所在海区生态环境和自然资源，是研究海洋动力过程和海陆变化的典型岸段，具有重要的生态价值，科研价值和观赏价值

昌黎黄金海岸旅游区是我国北方惟一的国家级海洋自然风景保护区，以沙漠与大海的吻痕为特色，被评为中国最美的八大海岸之一。黄金海岸百里金滩，沙细、滩缓、水清、潮平，是全国着名的12个海浴场之一。由于海潮和季风的作用，在海岸形成了世上罕见的大沙山，高达30至40米，这些金黄色的沙山呈新月形，陡缓交错，起伏有序，形成了国内独有、可与澳大利亚的布里斯班媲美的天然海洋大漠风光。
