Buenos Aires Metropolitan Cathedral

Buenos Aires Metropolitan Cathedral is situated next to Plaza de Mayo and is the cathedral of the Archbishop of Buenos Aires. A simple chapel was built on this site as early as the late 16th century, and it was rebuilt several times due to structural issues and other factors. The main structure seen today was begun in the mid-18th century, blending an 18th-century nave and dome with a 19th-century Neoclassical facade, with the overall construction spanning over a century. The church's exterior is quite unique—it has no bell tower. Instead, it features a triangular pediment facade supported by 12 Neoclassical columns. The columns symbolize the 12 Apostles of Jesus, and the relief on the pediment depicts the reunion of Joseph and his father Jacob in Egypt, symbolizing national unity. Upon entering, the nave and transept spread out beneath towering vaults, with floors laid in Venetian-style mosaics, decorated primarily in Neo-Renaissance and Neo-Baroque styles. Precious artifacts from the colonial period can still be seen: the Rococo-style gilded main altar, crafted in 1785, is located in the main chapel, and the statue of Christ, carved in 1671 by Portuguese sculptor Manuel do Coyto, is one of the earlier sculptures in the church. The interior also houses a German pipe organ built in 1871, which has over 3,000 pipes. Behind the church facade is an eternal flame, commemorating San Martín and the unknown soldiers of the War of Independence.Buenos Aires · 874m from downtown

We purchased the option for the VIP only show which gave us great seats and what seemed to be unlimited drinks, plus a couple of bites to eat. The show was centrally located which meant we could walk to and from our hotel, saving time on transportation. The show was well choreographed and had some excellent dancers. The passion, athleticism and skill of the dancers was evident throughout the show. It was a very well choreographed dance but also a fantastic show and definitely a must see while in Buenos Aires.

La Boca is a very vibrant and colorful area in Buenos Aires. it is an area with colorful houses, shops and restaurants. be sure to go during the day and do not wear fancy clothing or jewelries and not to cross over to Baraccas due to safety reason. otherwise it is a nice stroll and walk through city.

The Obelisk of Buenos Aires, Argentina, is located in the heart of the entire city, that is, the center of the city. It is still very commemorative. If you are interested in history, don't miss it here

Plaza de Mayo is also the largest square in Argentina and the largest public area in Buenos Aires. The entire area of this square is quite large, so it is quite interesting to visit here.

Puerto Madero is my favorite area of Buenos Aires for a relaxed walk by the water. It combines modern skyscrapers, old docks, restaurants, and the famous white Puente de la Mujer, which looks especially beautiful at sunset. Be sure to stroll along the waterfront, visit the museum ships, and take photos by the bridge - it’s one of the most photogenic spots in the city.

Recoleta Cemetery is one of the most prominent attractions in downtown Buenos Aires. It is the final resting place of many political figures, historical heroes, and business tycoons. The tombs, each with its own unique style, resemble a European architectural exhibition. The cemetery also contains numerous sculptures erected by the families of the deceased, evoking a sense of remembrance and mourning. Respect for death is a unique aspect of Argentine culture; they believe that only at the end of life can a person truly and completely reveal the meaning and value of their existence. The tomb of Eva Perón, the revered First Lady of Argentina, is located at number C7-88. This is arguably the most prominent spot in the entire cemetery. Although its location, scale, and appearance are not particularly special, and it can even be a little difficult to find without asking staff, it attracts a constant stream of visitors every day, demonstrating its enduring appeal.

Once we pass through the gate, we come to an amazing temple that is really worth taking a closer look. The floor is a masterpiece, completed in the early 20th century. Thousands of Anglo-Venetian mosaic tiles were placed by hand (yes, one by one!) On the right aisle is the resting place of San Martín, considered the father of Argentina. The mausoleum has different parts: a black marble sarcophagus covered with the Argentine flag and three white marble sculptures representing Argentina, Chile and Peru, as he fought for the independence of these three countries. Two grenadiers guard the place, and the changing of the guard takes place every two hours. The ceremony is both formal and moving.

Feel the 9th of July Avenue here, take a walk, take photos, and slowly watch the night fall. Cars and people are passing by, and the Obelisk is so beautiful at night. You will fall in love with the city of Buenos Aires over and over again at this moment. So I strongly recommend coming here in the evening for a date, chat, and walk. The atmosphere is really great.
