Doing this trip during the winter was so worth it- there was almost no one else at the Jinshaling section of the wall when we were there! If it is snowy/icy, I wouldn't recommend going to Jinshaling though as it will be too slippery (there were some steep climbs). The driver was there on time to drop us off at the wall and was there again to take us back. One thing I would say is that you do NOT get a guide with this tour, basically just a driving service- I thought that wasn't very clear on the description. Everything else was great, no complaints 👍

What an amazing experience!!! Selecting Jinshanling was a great decision as we were able to experience the beauty of the untouched part of the Great Wall. Less people and more beautiful scenery!! Our guide Susie was vey friendly and helpful, made our tour super convenient with her tips and communication!!!

Jinshanling: beautiful wall section, incredible panoramic views specially with the low sun. Demanding hiking but not like Mutianyu. Very less crowded and silent.

Since there were only two of us, they took us with another driver who, at first, along with the tour guide, wanted us to pay extra to go to the city wall. But in the end, we stood our ground, and they didn't charge us anything extra. Anyway, you always have to be careful.

Overall, it was a very satisfying tour. I had heard via email that there was an experienced driver available who didn't speak English, so I decided to go with him. Our driver, Shangzen Ruishui, communicated with us using the translation function and had no problems. He was a very sincere person, and although we fell asleep soon after boarding, he turned off the music to provide a quiet space. The drive was smooth and we were able to enjoy a comfortable trip without getting carsick. Jinshanling Great Wall was a great location for taking spectacular photos with few tourists, and I was amazed by the endless stretches of the Great Wall. I believe this was all thanks to our driver's skillful driving, which allowed us to get to the Great Wall safely.
