Tengwang Pavilion, one of the top three famous towers in South China, located in Jiangxi Province
Located on the eastern bank of the Gan River along the riverside road in the northwest, it was first built in the fourth year of the Yonghui era during the Tang Dynasty. It was named after Li Yuanying, the younger brother of Emperor Taizong of Tang, Li Shimin. The pavilion gained lasting fame through the famous lines by early Tang poet Wang Bo: "A solitary wild duck flies with the sunset clouds, The autumn river shares a hue with the vast sky." During the Zhenguan era, it was associated with Li Yuan, the son of Emperor Gaozu of Tang and the younger brother of Emperor Taizong Li Shimin.Once enfeoffed in ShandongThus, he was titled Prince Teng and built a pavilion named "Tengwang Pavilion" in Tengzhou (now destroyed). Later, Prince Li Yuanying was transferred to Hongzhou in Jiangnan (present-day Nanchang, Jiangxi). Missing his former land, he constructed the famous "Tengwang Pavilion," which became widely known to later generations through Wang Bo's "Preface to Tengwang Pavilion," turning it into an eternal classic. Historically, Tengwang Pavilion has been rebuilt up to 29 times, repeatedly destroyed and reconstructed. In January 2001, it was approved as one of the first batch of national AAAA-level tourist attractions. On October 29, 2018, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism held a ceremony in Beijing to award newly promoted 5A-level tourist attractions, officially elevating Tengwang Pavilion to the ranks of national 5A-level tourist attractions.
