We visited in November on a weekday. Lesser crowd and the weather was perfect, sunny between 10°C & 15°C. Our tour came with a guide who got us the tickets and planned the hiking routes, covering every "tourist-must-see" parts of the mountain.
The buffet lunch recommended by the guide at ¥98/pax up on the mountains is a really good deal too.
Huangshan is NO JOKE. The 8km up and down the steps lasted for almost 6 hours, excluding the one-way 20mins shuttle bus ride & one-way 10mins cable car ride. At the end of the tour our legs were not cooperative anymore.
Besides the breathtaking views, it was also heartbreaking to see elderly potters carrying approximately 180 catties (about 108kg!) of goods up and down the mountains. They are literally breaking their backs 😭! Some even stopped and asked passers-by for water / food. Would forming a bucket brigade or a human chain be workable?★

The driver called the day before arrival and 30 minutes before arrival at the destination station. He was actually waiting to greet us at the elevator exit. The 8 seater business van was clean and comfortable. The seat I was on had a heater and massage mode. The journey was smooth and the driver was friendly and joyful. He would drop everyone exactly at the hotel front door. I was so pleased with him that I booked on Trip. Com again for my return trip and luckily the same van and driver came to fetch us from the hotel★
