The Kjarvalsstaðir branch houses numerous works by Iceland's master artists, while the Ásmundur Sveinsson Sculpture Museum primarily features sculptures.

The museum houses an extensive collection of works by Icelandic artists, showcasing the development of Icelandic art, along with paintings by international artists like Picasso and Munch. Originally a harbor warehouse, the Hafnarhús branch features a restaurant with stunning views of the harbor area.
