▲ Solheimajokull is an outlet glacier flowing from Myrdalsjokull, Iceland's fourth largest ice cap. Unlike other glaciers, it doesn't appear as the pure white or blue ice one might imagine. Due to an active volcano beneath Solheimajokull, volcanic ash from eruptions has covered the entire glacier, creating a unique fusion of ice and ash that gives it distinctive black-and-white coloration.

▲ Solheimajokull is an outlet glacier flowing from Mýrdalsjökull, Iceland's fourth largest ice cap, located along the southern coast. Due to the active Katla volcano beneath the glacier, volcanic ash mixing with ice has created distinctive black-and-white terrain patterns [1-3]. The glacier has been retreating at a rate of tens to hundreds of meters annually in recent years, with visible surface features like crevasses.
