Reviews: Abu Dhabi Sunset Dune Bashing at Rose Camp with Camel Ride Around Oasis Show + Transfer & Buffet

Excellent activity. Well worth it! Everything fantastic ……only thing we didn’t like was lack of hygiene at buffet/evening meal. But the buffet is ok if you like that sort of thing.

Everything was wonderful. Thanks to Kasim for a wonderful time. We loved the desert camp. Dinner was a buffet. Everything was fresh and delicious. Throughout the evening, we were treated to light snacks like samosas and dates. The tanoura and fayei dance shows were top-notch. We loved the camel ride, the desert banshee ride, and the surfboarding. For an additional fee, you can ride a quad bike for 30 minutes (150 dirhams). Women can get a free henna tattoo.

The driver, a young Arab man, picked us up at the hotel promptly at 2:30 PM in a 7-seater SUV. Our family of three was picked up along the way, along with two other foreigners. My 1.75-meter-tall son had to stretch his legs diagonally in the last row. Thankfully, the drive only took about 50 minutes. At the rest areas and campsites, many enthusiastic Arabs tried to sell paid services. If you don't want something, be sure to say "NO" immediately. Don't be shy and end up being tricked into buying something. We booked a group tour for a little over 500 RMB per person. Overall, the activity was quite interesting, adding a new dimension to the Dubai desert adventure. The activity ended around 8:30 PM, and the vehicle returned to the hotel. We arrived around 9 PM, showered, and went to bed. The Ctrip customer service provided continuous WeChat support throughout the trip – a big thumbs up! 👍

Thanks to Qasim, our Pakistani tour guide, for providing excellent and warm service. We had a wonderful time throughout the trip, took many great photos, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We didn't want to leave! After booking, the local tour operator contacted us in advance via WeChat, ensuring everything was arranged smoothly and allowing us to travel with peace of mind. On the second day at noon, our guide arrived early and even treated us to some healthy and hygienic local milk tea at his own expense 🧋. The dune bashing was safe and exciting, with an endless expanse of golden desert that was truly exotic. The phrase "a lone plume of smoke rising straight from the desert" perfectly describes this scene! The campsite was uniquely decorated, with unlimited tea and dates. The buffet dinner featured a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, satisfying even the most discerning Asian palates. The evening performance was spectacular, with constant interaction, and every moment was perfect for taking photos!

After booking, the tour group and guide will contact you via WeChat and WhatsApp, which is very convenient. In the morning, the guide will drive directly to the hotel to pick you up, and then you'll rest and have something to eat at the meeting point. Then, the guide and some shops will start pushing various sales pitches (desert off-road vehicles, various drinks and food). However, there is no forced consumption, so it's acceptable. Then, you'll drive to the desert for dune bashing. I suggest not eating too much before dune bashing, or you might really throw up. After dune bashing, you'll stop in the desert for a while to take photos. The first thing you see when you arrive in the desert isn't endless sand, but endless cars... various commercial activities, followed by another round of sales pitches (eagle photos, sandboarding...). Some passersby tried to sell me sandboarding, but I found out that sandboarding is free if you hire your own guide. Be careful not to get ripped off. After playing for a while, the guide will take us to a nearby place to fill up the gas tank and inflate the tires. Then, they'll ask if we need to use the restroom because it's an hour's drive to the camp. Then, when we go to the restroom, we'll be bombarded with sales pitches from various shops and passersby (souvenirs, various food and drinks, coconut juice...). After driving to the camp, the guide will take us to take photos of the desert sunset, which is very beautiful. Then, at the camp entrance, as expected, there was a huge wave of sales pitches (paid horseback riding, camel riding). Horses are fine; you can ride them anywhere. Camels are available for both free and paid rides. The free ones are inside the enclosure where you can sit and take photos. Of course, the camels won't stand up; take it or leave it, nobody cares. The paid camel ride initially cost me 60 dirhams, but after some haggling, I got it down to 50, and finally 40. The paid camel ride was definitely much better for photos, and the results were much more professional. It felt worthwhile. The vendor will lead the camel for a short walk, taking photos and videos for you. After that, you enter the camp. Remember to bring extra clothes, otherwise it gets very cold at night. Inside the camp, if all goes well, there will be another round of sales pitches (pay extra for VIP seats, hookah, souvenirs, alcohol). There are also free videos available, and food and performances at the end of the day.
