Reviews: Phillip Island Penguin Parade & Puffing Billy Railway Day Tour [Round-Trip from City]

Visiting two popular tourist attractions in one day is great value. The starting point is easy to find. When watching penguins at night, wear extra layers, or you might get blown away by the wind.

At first, I was a little worried because the tour was in Chinese, but our guide, Carter, kindly explained things in English, so I was able to complete the tour without any problems. Please note that you'll need to bring cash for zoo admission. Also, for the Puffing Billy train, sit on the left side of the train for a better view.
Reviews: Melbourne Phillip Island Half-Day Tour [Noon Departure | Designated Pick-Up | Premium Penguin Island Group]

We took a half-day trip to Phillip Island, passing through Nobbs Point Centre and Nature Park. We even encountered baby penguins sunbathing. To get a closer look at the penguins returning to their nests, we specifically chose the "Premium Viewing Platform" and saw the world's smallest penguins, unique to Melbourne (30-35 cm tall). They were so cute! Our driver and guide, Chris, although he had a full head of white hair, was full of energy and introduced the local customs and attractions along the way. He was very professional.

This itinerary was really great for us traveling with kids. The penguin watching was in the evening, so we left the hotel around noon, which suited our child's schedule. Our first stop was the Puffing Billy Railway, a popular station with great photo opportunities. It was sunny at first, but halfway through the journey, a sudden downpour started. So we skipped the zoo and went straight to Phillip Island. We saw kangaroos along the way, and Cape Nobis was beautiful. Our guide, Xiao Li, was also fantastic. We did see the baby penguins in the evening, but my older son got impatient in the end. We took many close-up photos though. Highly recommended!
