It was a fantastic experience. Ali, our tour guide, was cheerful, funny, and attentive, and he made sure everyone was comfortable. Besides learning about the tour itself, I also learned quite a bit about Dubai and its traditions. We started at 2:30 pm at the hotel. By the time everyone was picked up and we had navigated the heavy traffic to reach our destination, it was early evening, which was perfect as it was already cooling down a bit and the desert was bathed in a fantastic light. All parts of the tour were well-organized, from the camel ride to the final fire show. And the dinner was varied and lavish. Around 10:30 pm, Ali dropped us off back at the hotel. 700 dirhams for two people is a lot of money, but it was worth it.

Choose your on adventure type safari. We had Mutty as our guide. Meal was delicious but slow paced. Overall dragged a little at the end and could easily shave off 1-2 hours. Great experience overall. Recommend the Mediterranean menu. Note: Mainly photo opportunity focused sprinkled with showcases. Falcon show was incredible. At dinner another man walked around with an owl for photo ops at the end. But professional photographers were omni-present and it is worth noting many stops are for photo-ops. They sell pictures from an iPad at the end- they airdrop to you and can send you a dropbox link upon request if you purchase. It was our honeymoon and they gave me a bouquet of roses which was super thoughtful and made me smile! Wish there was a hybrid experience between the traditional, but with the 6-course cabana meal.

The driver, a young Arab man, picked us up at the hotel promptly at 2:30 PM in a 7-seater SUV. Our family of three was picked up along the way, along with two other foreigners. My 1.75-meter-tall son had to stretch his legs diagonally in the last row. Thankfully, the drive only took about 50 minutes. At the rest areas and campsites, many enthusiastic Arabs tried to sell paid services. If you don't want something, be sure to say "NO" immediately. Don't be shy and end up being tricked into buying something. We booked a group tour for a little over 500 RMB per person. Overall, the activity was quite interesting, adding a new dimension to the Dubai desert adventure. The activity ended around 8:30 PM, and the vehicle returned to the hotel. We arrived around 9 PM, showered, and went to bed. The Ctrip customer service provided continuous WeChat support throughout the trip – a big thumbs up! 👍

After booking, the tour group and guide will contact you via WeChat and WhatsApp, which is very convenient. In the morning, the guide will drive directly to the hotel to pick you up, and then you'll rest and have something to eat at the meeting point. Then, the guide and some shops will start pushing various sales pitches (desert off-road vehicles, various drinks and food). However, there is no forced consumption, so it's acceptable. Then, you'll drive to the desert for dune bashing. I suggest not eating too much before dune bashing, or you might really throw up. After dune bashing, you'll stop in the desert for a while to take photos. The first thing you see when you arrive in the desert isn't endless sand, but endless cars... various commercial activities, followed by another round of sales pitches (eagle photos, sandboarding...). Some passersby tried to sell me sandboarding, but I found out that sandboarding is free if you hire your own guide. Be careful not to get ripped off. After playing for a while, the guide will take us to a nearby place to fill up the gas tank and inflate the tires. Then, they'll ask if we need to use the restroom because it's an hour's drive to the camp. Then, when we go to the restroom, we'll be bombarded with sales pitches from various shops and passersby (souvenirs, various food and drinks, coconut juice...). After driving to the camp, the guide will take us to take photos of the desert sunset, which is very beautiful. Then, at the camp entrance, as expected, there was a huge wave of sales pitches (paid horseback riding, camel riding). Horses are fine; you can ride them anywhere. Camels are available for both free and paid rides. The free ones are inside the enclosure where you can sit and take photos. Of course, the camels won't stand up; take it or leave it, nobody cares. The paid camel ride initially cost me 60 dirhams, but after some haggling, I got it down to 50, and finally 40. The paid camel ride was definitely much better for photos, and the results were much more professional. It felt worthwhile. The vendor will lead the camel for a short walk, taking photos and videos for you. After that, you enter the camp. Remember to bring extra clothes, otherwise it gets very cold at night. Inside the camp, if all goes well, there will be another round of sales pitches (pay extra for VIP seats, hookah, souvenirs, alcohol). There are also free videos available, and food and performances at the end of the day.

Our day trip was fantastic! Our guide/ driver were very nice and helpful. The best part was the desert 4wheeling and sunset sandboarding. Lots of beautiful pictures. The dinner show was fun too! Even the buffet food was quite delicious with the BBQ and fresh made roti! Great value for a half day experience. Pleasing my husband and teenage daughter were not easy and we all had smiles on our faces!
