Reviews: A City Tour Of Samarkand: The Pearl Of The East

We had a wonderful time in Samarkand! It's a city that truly impresses with its history and atmosphere. The architecture is simply captivating—each place is like a separate work of art. Our guide, Laziz, was a true professional: he told us stories in a very engaging, lively manner, and with a wealth of historical knowledge. He told us not just dry facts, but captivating stories that truly capture the spirit of the city. Places like the Registan and Shah-i-Zinda were especially memorable—you have to see them with your own eyes; photos don't do them justice. The tour was easy, comfortable, and engaging. It's clear that the guide loves his craft and knows how to engage. I recommend him to anyone who wants to not just see Samarkand, but truly understand and experience it!

A fantastic excursion, we highly recommend it! We've never seen such beauty; photos can't capture it, you have to see it in person! The organization of the excursion was excellent, too. We booked it literally the day before departure. Our guide, Fayoziddin, picked us up from our hotel and explained everything along the way to the border, giving us helpful advice. We crossed the border quickly, in about 10 minutes. On the Tajik side, our guide, Farrukh, met us and took us to places most excursions don't go. We even got a taste of the extreme. Overall, we had a fantastic time, thank you!

We had an amazing and informative day with our tour guide. In perfect English he walked us through the history of Samarkand and showed us the main sights. He also was willing to answer all our questions and told us about local culture and uzbek customs. We would definitely recommend this tour, especially to those new to the city!

My day trip to Samarkand was seamless from start to finish. Everything was extremely well organised - from collecting me at my hotel, getting me onto the train, to meeting me again on my return to Tashkent. I accidentally exited from a different entrance at the Tashkent station, but the driver remained calm, patient, and went out of his way to locate me and ensure I got safely back to my hotel. That level of care made a real difference. In Samarkand, my guide Mokhigul was outstanding: knowledgeable, friendly, curious, and incredibly generous with her insights. We exchanged reflections on cultural influences, and she intuitively gave me space to explore some of the city’s most spiritual and awe-inspiring sites on my own, which I truly appreciated. The local food was delicious, and everywhere we went, people were warm, welcoming, and curious. My guide also kindly helped me negotiate at the local market in Samarkand - a small gesture that made the experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this team. They made my first trip to Uzbekistan not only smooth and stress-free, but truly memorable and inspiring.
