Absolutely amazing experience with a tour guide who was not only incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the pyramids but also had an eye for the perfect photo ops! His passion for Egypt's history shone through, making the tour not just educational but truly captivating. He was patient, personable, and his storytelling brought the ancient world to life right before our eyes. Highly recommened!

Reviews: Cairo 8 Hour Private Tour of Pyramids & Grand Egyptian Museum

If I could rate individuals separately, Robert and Peter would get a glowing five stars; unfortunately, the company loses one star over an airport transfer from Cairo International that was more than 200% above market price, with zero flexibility. So… we booked an 8-hour private tour to the Pyramids of Giza and the Grand Egyptian Museum via ***. Sounds glamorous, right? Enter Pyramid Land Tours, who—after confirming our airport pickup—politely slid into our messages asking for an extra USD $25 to drive from Cairo Airport to downtown. We politely replied: “That was not in the terms, and also… no.” They politely replied: “Fine, meet us at the Ramses Hilton. Downtown.” Reader, we took a Careem taxi from Terminal 3 for under USD $4. The return trip? USD $5.20 including tip. Math was not on Pyramid Land’s side that day. Arriving early at the Ramses Hilton meant coffee, gardens, and a live classical piano player, because apparently Cairo does entrances properly. At 8:30am we met Robert (guide) and Peter (driver)—both absolute gems. Robert grew up in Cairo, has a degree in Egyptology, speaks English, Arabic… and casually German, just in case you needed pyramid trivia in multiple languages. 25 minutes of Cairo traffic later (miracle), we hit the Giza Plateau. Robert handled tickets, logistics, and asked whether we wanted to go inside the pyramids (no, obviously). We declined camel rides and horse carts—no offence, but we like our organs where they started. Robert gave us a brilliant rundown of the Great Pyramid of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure—with occasional pronunciation moments that left us briefly confused, then laughing, then enlightened. Educational comedy. 10/10. Coffee break next. Four coffees from an Italian café near the pyramids: 💸 AUD $26.79. The only place I’ve paid more was Venice in 1999, and even then I was emotionally unprepared. Lunch at EGY Gate Restaurant (Three Pyramids) followed—Egyptian food with a suspiciously European vibe, except for the Egyptian desserts, which were so good they felt vaguely life-altering@. Crucial moment: Robert insisted we buy Grand Egyptian Museum tickets online at the pyramids. No Wi-Fi. Roaming data. Mild panic. Later, at the museum, we walked past 50-metre ticket lines and strolled straight in with our mobile tickets like ancient royalty. Robert, we owe you. The Grand Egyptian Museum is immense—20 years in the making, with a future walkway to the pyramids (not open yet, because of course). Highlights included: • Khufu’s solar boats (one fully restored, one in progress) • The statue of Ramses II looming magnificently in the entrance • Moving walkways and panoramic pyramid views • And then… Tutankhamun: three coffins, gilded shrines, chariots, jewellery, footwear, finger caps, beds, and that mask. Absolutely breathtaking. Robert gave us space to explore, did not push factory visits (bless him), and Peter got us safely back to downtown. Back at the airport: early flight to Hurghada? Overbooked by four people. Naturally. But we did make it into the Egypt Business Class Lounge, which once again proved that Egypt takes lounges very seriously. Now waiting for the 11:30pm flight, hoping to be back in Hurghada by 12:30am, hotel by 2am. Still, I remain convinced: ✈️ A same-day flight to Cairo is FAR less stressful than 22 hours on a bus. Even with pyramid economics, surprise piano concerts, and Venetian-priced coffee. Egypt, never change.

Absolutely amazing experience with above and beyond staff. Our tour guides Karim and Peter were very friendly and kind. We got to see all the sites listed as well as a well informed lecture from Karim, who is getting his PhD in Egyptian studies. We were able to gain knowledge, have fun, take beautiful pictures and make new friends. We did go to many shops, but the owners were kind and didn’t become rude when we chose not to buy. Truly an ALL day tour, would absolutely recommend to anyone who wants to see, do and learn.

One word, Speechless! Our tour guide, Karim, was knowledgeable, friendly and more importantly.. made us feel so safe during the whole trip. We started the morning off at the pyramids and a throughout history lesson with Karim. We saw the remaining pyramids and enjoyed a very fun camel ride down to see the Sphinx. Karim received us at the end of the camel ride where we enjoyed a traditional Egyptian style lunch buffet. We traveled to a few shops where we learned about the essential oil, how papyrus is made, tea health benefits, how Egyptian cotton is made and even had a handmade cartouche necklace made for my son as a souvenir. Later after a traditional Egyptian lunch, we experienced one of the most unique and exhilarating ATV rides where we rode all the way up to the sandune that overlooked the most amazing view! An epic view of the pyramids wathcing the sunset! In the evening, we enjoyed the most high energy dinner party cruise on the Nile complete with belly dancing and a traditional Egyptian dance performance. We ended the evening with dancing and memories that will last us a lifetime. We want to thank Karim and our driver for the day! From day to night, every hour of the day was planned out for us. We had fun every step of the way and so relieved we booked this tour instead of trying to plan it out ourselves. I can't stress enough how absolutely safe we felt along every stop on this tour! We Highly recommend this tour company and you absolutely have to ask for Karim as your guide! Thank you!

I highly recommend this tour! I had a great day! My guide Merna was so attentive and kind. She knew her history very well and was able to answer any questions I had. It was so amazing seeing one of the 7 wonders up close and even got to go inside one of the first pyramids! My driver Ayman was very kind and got us to where we needed to go safely and professionally. I would recommend you ask for them when booking a tour I had a blast!
