Reviews: West Nusa Penida Private Day Tour with Lunch & Afternoon Tea – Meet at Sanur Harbor

Everything went smooth, but since we had high expectations on the place, it was a bit disappointing when we found out that everywhere was so touristy and crowded. Nothing wrong with the tour itself.

The organizers delivered on everything they promised – we visited all the planned spots and even made an extra stop at Crystal Bay Beach since we had time left, for which we're especially grateful. The staff (manager and driver) were friendly. However, a few things could be improved: 1. I was told to be ready at 6:45 a.m., but I ended up waiting at reception for almost 30 minutes (they said the car broke down). The boat didn't arrive until 8:00 a.m., even though it's a 15-minute drive from the hotel to the port. Planning this part of the trip was poor. 2. The driver on Nusa Penida barely speaks English, so there's no excursion component. However, he knows a lot of good photo spots and minimizes the tourist's need to climb over rocks in the heat. And finally (but this is not a question about the tour, but about the island in general) - there are A LOT of tourists at each location, the cars are quite old, and the condition of the roads on the island is poor + serpentine - keep this in mind if you get motion sickness.

The itinerary was well-planned. A driver picked us up from the hotel to the pier in the morning and helped us exchange all our boat tickets and boarding passes. A dedicated driver from the island picked us up on the boat to Nusa Penida; he was a very friendly young man (special praise!). We chose the east coast route, first visiting the Teletubbies exhibit, then the Treehouse area. There are several photo spots at this location, all requiring an entrance fee; we only chose the treehouse photo spot, which cost 750,000 Indonesian Rupiah. Photo opportunities are timed, two minutes per person, starting from when you begin climbing the stairs, so be sure to prepare in advance.

10 out of 10. We spent a long time choosing between similar excursions; they all involved a lot of walking, which we didn't want to do in the heat. So we chose this one and didn't regret it one bit. Snorkeling, boat trips, kayaks. A great combination. Ideally, we would have landed on Nusa Penida for half an hour, relaxed a bit, and taken photos. But we just looked at the beach from the boat. That was the biggest disappointment of the whole excursion. Such a chance to avoid the daunting hike; we approached from the sea. And we only saw it from afar. Otherwise, everything was great. Lunch was delicious.
