Reviews: Kumamoto Miyazaki|Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine & Kyushu Takachiho Gorge & Mount Aso Kusasenri Day Tour

It was a very enjoyable trip, and the tour guide was excellent. He even offered to take photos for our family, which was very kind of him. The journey was long and arduous.
Reviews: Kyushu Hidden Gems 1-day Tour: Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine + Mount Aso + Kusasenri + Kurokawa Onsen

On the second day of the New Year, I took a day trip and was incredibly lucky to see snow. We were also very fortunate that the crater was open and the mountain roads along the Kurokawa River were safe to drive on! The day was packed; we left at 8 am and arrived at 6 pm. We checked out the location first, and will explore it more thoroughly on our next road trip! Our guide, Mr. Sun, was very friendly, funny, and witty. He shared many interesting stories about life in Japan and recommended delicious food in Kumamoto. Highly recommended! (՞ਊ՞)👍
Reviews: 1-day tour to Fukuoka's hidden shrine, Aso Volcano, Kusasenri, and Kurokawa Onsen|Kumamoto round-trip

The tour costs 270 yuan per person; consider it just transportation. It visits four places. Kurokawa Onsen and the volcano are quite far and you definitely can't plan them yourself. The bus ride is like a rest stop; you can start exploring as soon as you land. The tour guide will also provide commentary, and their Northeastern accent is very welcoming. Seeing the volcano is a bonus; not seeing it is a real shame—it's quite a matter of luck. The shrine visit is a little rushed; you need to calm down and climb up to truly immerse yourself in the experience.

Super fun! The Aso crater is incredibly cold, so be sure to wear lots and lots of layers! Otherwise, you won't be able to stand for even five minutes. Kusanagi Senri is great; you can get up close to horses, browse souvenir shops, and drink delicious yogurt. The ginkgo leaves at the shrine are beautiful, carpeted with fallen leaves. I initially thought Kurokawa Onsen would be boring since I didn't plan to stay overnight, and going into the baths alone felt a bit too sedentary. But I found it very enjoyable to explore. There's plenty of time. Don't rush to the first free foot bath. You can buy a hot spring egg for 10 yen, then walk further in; there's a foot bath for 100 yen per person that's less crowded and has some scenery. You can also buy towels from vendors. After your foot bath, explore further; there's a cream puff shop where you can buy many sweets—a very unique place. The whole trip was quite relaxing and not too rushed. Remember to bring some coins to buy eggs and foot baths at Kurokawa. You can also pray at the shrine!
Reviews: 1-day tour to Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine and Aso Volcano in Kumamoto, Japan with complimentary shuttle service and Kurokawa Onsen
Guest User2025-12-08
The day trip was wonderfully and well-planned, allowing you to visit four remote locations in one day (Kamishiromi Kumano Shrine, Mount Aso, Kusasenri, and Kurokawa Onsen). It was much more time-saving, effortless, and worry-free than taking public transportation yourself. Our guide, Kevin Yang, was humorous and engaging, providing detailed explanations on the bus. The entire itinerary was packed with activities, making it excellent value for money. 👍

We had a great guide Jimmy Liu for the tour. He knew all the tips on where to get the best photos as well as timing restroom breaks and how to plan each visit at each location to make for a more pleasant experience. We also had the good fortune to see the crater at Mt. Also. Great value for tour with memorable experiences Thanks Jimmy for showing us the highlights of Mt. Also, Kusaneri area and kurokawa onsen.
