Manbalaseng Temple is located on Tuhai Mountain in Manbalaseng Temple Town, Hainan District, Wuhai City. It was built in 1790 (the 55th year of the Qianlong reign). "Manbala" is a Tibetan term meaning "Medical Scripture Institute." The temple serves as a specialized center for the study of medical religion, where monks first study scriptures and then medicine (Mongolian medicine), cultivating both disciplines to achieve high proficiency in the medical field. It is said that dozens of secret Mongolian medicine formulas were developed here, making it a sacred site of Tibetan Buddhism primarily characterized by Mongolian medical research. During the Cultural Revolution, the temple was damaged, leaving only the Mahavira Hall, the Medicine Buddha Pagoda, the Dharma Protector Hall, and a karst cave from the original structures. Later, the government approved and designated Manbalaseng Temple as the sole Gelugpa (Lamaism)********************site in the region. With the support of the monastic community and believers, the fourth Shazhong Garasheng Shaderi Budanbini comprehensively restored the temple, which has now taken initial shape. Today, the temple fairs attract massive crowds, and visitors for worship and sightseeing are continuous throughout the year.
Wuhai Lake Eco-Tourism Area is formed by the 118-square-kilometer tranquil water surface and surrounding lakeside region created by the Yellow River Haibowan District Water Control Project. Together with the Gandur Mountain Ecological Civilization Scenic Area, it presents a spectacular landscape where water and sand harmonize, and mountains meet the lake. Stretching north-south across Wuhai City, it encompasses attractions like the Ulan Buh Desert, Wulannaoer Lake, Wuhai Lake, Poplar Island, and Rabbit Island. Viewed from east to west, the shimmering waters extend seamlessly to the golden sand shores, creating a striking contrast between the azure lake and golden dunes—a majestic, naturally formed panorama that paints a beautiful scene of "a vast lake emerging from the desert, a Jiangnan-like paradise beyond the Great Wall." The Wuhai Lake Eco-Tourism Area uniquely combines six natural wonders: desert, serene lake, reeds, migratory birds, sand dunes, and aquatic life, making it an ideal destination for eco-friendly leisure travel. The area offers diverse experiences, including desert camps, water recreation, and low-altitude flights, blending land, water, and air adventures. It has developed green tourism routes such as "Desert Tours," "Water Cruises," and specialized reed marsh explorations, featuring activities like luxury boat sightseeing, desert off-road excursions, and immersive wetland trails—delivering unforgettable, multi-sensory experiences.
