Climbing mount Vesuvius and visiting Pompeii was a wonderful experience and our guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant.
Reviews: Pompeii & Mt.Vesuvius Day Tour from Naples with Pizza Lunch
Guest User2024-07-27
We really enjoyed this tour. The company was great about communicating, the bus was comfortable, with A/C. They made a stop so we could have a snack and use the restroom. We went to Mount Vesuvius first, and they gave us plenty of time to walk to the top and take pictures. It was so cool to see inside the volcano and the views from the top were incredible! We then drove to Pompeii and had a delicious pizza lunch, and then toured the ruins. Our guide was great, she gave us time to look around each place we went and had interesting facts to tell us about what life was like then. We even got to see the bodies. We had time to see a lot of the area and ant the end to buy a cold drink. I would definitely recommend this tour.
Reviews: From Naples: Wine Tasting Tour on Vesuvius Slopes with Lunch

A wonderful experience. We tasted a total of five wines, sparkling wine, and dessert wine. This was accompanied by a delicious antipasti platter as a starter, spaghetti with meatballs as a main course, and a dessert cake: all absolutely excellent. We were completely stuffed. Unfortunately, we didn't understand the guide during the tour; his English wasn't very good, and although he was facing the group, he tended to wander off.

Excellent, one suggestion: make lunch optional so that we can spend an extra 45 minutes visiting the Pompeii site if we wish.

Navigating Pompeii and Vesuvius are not straight-forward. Our driver Lucia was very professional, prompt and made sure all our transfers (including Vesuvius which is a very disorganized site!) when smoothly. She took care of ensuring our tickets were in hand, gave perfect instructions to navigate each site and was waiting in the perfect places as we came out. Our guide for Pompeii was Anna and she was fantastic - got us through the lines and navigated well in front of or behind all the large tour groups with precision! She knew all of their moves and because there were not tons of tourists there, I got so many pictures with either no one or few people in the shots! Anna was also incredibly knowledgeable about the site and gave us great insights on the history and art that decorates the site - she came prepared too with a bag full of books with illustrations and drawings that helped hus understand what we were looking at. It was a very thoughtful (she even helped us find water to purchase before and after the tour!) and full agenda. No way we would have had the same experience in a large tour. Pay the extra money for the private experience - it is well worth it!
