The JR Pass allows you to ride the Shinkansen (bullet train), it's a great deal! I flew to Komatsu to try out this amazing JR Pass, but for some reason, I couldn't buy tickets on the official website. I found that trip.com offered a ticket option, and I received the QR code instantly after placing the order – very convenient! Plus, the price seemed to be cheaper than other agents. I activated the pass on my first day, so after arriving at Komatsu Airport, I took a bus to Komatsu Station. Inside the station, I scanned my passport and the QR code on my phone at the ticket machine to instantly collect the pass – the process was very smooth.

The process of exchanging the voucher for a ticket at the machine went without any problems, although we had to ask the staff for help in reserving a seat.

A really good option if you want to visit Shirakawa. The tour left promptly and was well organized. The tour guides Keita and Yasushi were really positive and enthusiastic. They shared lots of interesting information and had a good sense of humour. We had almost 3 hours at Shirakawa and it was more than enough to explore the beautiful town. We arrived back in Kanazawa just after 1pm. I highly recommend this tour.


