Our guide Nunzio was funny and entertaining. The tour went around the island, we visited the caves and Nunzio returned us back safely despite a windy November day. We thank Syracuse Excursion for arranging an earlier sailing for us as we were early arriving at the meeting point. We had a great time!★

We were picked up punctually in Syracuse by our guide, Giuseppe Barbagallo. He quickly drove us in his nine-seater van up to about 2,000 meters on Mount Etna. There, we could decide whether we wanted to take the cable car up to about 2,500 meters. The extra cost was well worth it for this experience. Giuseppe took care of organizing the tickets for us. At the top of Etna, we were handed over to another guide who led us, along with a few other tourists, for about an hour through the black lava desert. On the way back, Giuseppe showed us a small lava cave under strict safety precautions. He knows a lot about volcanology and speaks excellent English. The wine tasting at an old winery was delicious, and the people there were incredibly friendly and relaxed. It was a wonderful end to our trip to Mount Etna, and we highly recommend this experience.
