We had the opportunity to take a guided tour of the Salt Cathedral, and the experience was simply exceptional. The weather was perfect and complemented every moment of the tour. Our guides, Jorge and Esther, were a true privilege: warm, fun, attentive, and with a deep knowledge of Bogotá and its history. The way they shared every detail made the tour feel personal and incredibly enriching.
The Salt Cathedral is an impressive, majestic, and unique structure. Walking through its tunnels and illuminated spaces is almost a sensory journey that surpasses all expectations.
In conclusion, it was an unparalleled experience that we highly recommend.★

Good package with just the transfer and tickets to the salt mine. The driver gave good info as we drove (only in Spanish) and arranged entry to the mine - with audio cruises in English. You then tour the mine yourself (or with a guide in Spanish). He then offered for us to have lunch in town (at own cost) or to look around town - which we did. ★

David was very knowledgeable about the tale of El Dorado and the biodiversity of the Guatavita lagoon. He was patient with our acclimatizing breathlessness on the steep walk up to the lagoon.
Lunch was fun and vibrant with traditional Colombian food. We had no idea what to expect from the Salt cathedral but it was so much bigger and more unique than we thought. This long day trip is worth the visit to have a day away from the city and see two very special places.★

The Salt Cathedral is a true religious experience, much like Machu Picchu. It is 850' below the surface. One doesn't think of this while walking because of the carvings and Stations of the Cross. The most spectacular part of the visit was Christ speaking on one side of the wall, his words projected on the opposite side and the cross illuminated in the center. It is shown only during Easter week. It's hard to imagine that this could be carved out of the salt mountain.
