Said was the best guide, clearly very knowledgeable and passionate to share history with us! We went to the mosque first, then active mud volcano. The journey to the mud volcano was via old 40yo soviet car, which I had soooo much fun being in! They’re strangely or surprisingly powerful off road! Then we had lunch at this sort of buffet place, not included in the tour price but it was only AZN20 I think, worth it! Then off to Absheron to see the fire temple and the 4000yo fire! It was a very easy day, suitable for elderly and children in my opinion. Wear proper clothes though, cuz it was very windy in Feb. My only caution is: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO WALK ON WET MUD! 😂 otherwise you may slip and get mud all over your body!

Overall, it was a very satisfying trip. We booked it on New Year's Day, and despite the extreme weather and the New Year's holiday, both the domestic and local authorities handled the unexpected situation very well and made excellent arrangements. Our local guide, Mammadov, was very nice and even gave us a bottle of red wine at the end of the trip. Highly recommended.
