One of the highlights of our Almaty trip. The 17-hour tour covered Charyn Canyon, Saty Village, Kaindy Lake, and Kolsai Lake and was very well organised. The home-cooked lunch at Saty Village was simple but heartwarming. The old Soviet bus ride to Kaindy Lake was a unique experience.
Our English guide, Saya, was very kind and attentive, and the driver was steady and professional throughout the long journey. Small group of only 8 people, clean van, and we even had extra time to visit Black Canyon. Definitely worth it.★

Excellent SIM card. We used it in the UAE and Oman. We got the 1GB per day plan—it was always enough for both internet and navigation. Search doesn't work well in tethering mode, but social media works fine. It's very easy to set up, the signal is good, and we're completely satisfied with the service.★

Nature and the route 👌 I wish we'd spent a little more time at the lakes. The only thing is, we booked a Russian-speaking guide to hear interesting facts about the places, but it turned out that there were only two Russian speakers in the entire group, and they often forgot to translate for us (we don't know English, so sometimes we had to ask).★

Overall great experience. Although it was abit cold & windy but Charyn Canyon must go. You need to bring some cash to buy snacks, food and drink along the trip.
When you reach to the lake base, you need to pay extra KZT4000 for the soviet van to bring you to the horses ground where leading to the lake. Horse riding was another KZT 8000. I have seen some youtube videos range between KZT6000 - 7500. Basically it was a series of commercial chain otherwise you will be forced to stay at the base (outdoor) and wait for nearly 2 hours for the rest to come back.
Nus the guide was good. Great singer, dancer and striper (by request). Driver was good too. Prepare to sit inside supposed to be a very comfy Mercedes Benz Van however travelled at 140 KM/H on icy road (yes i know), it was very bouncy for total 3 hours one way = not comfortable.
The van left at 5am from the designated bus stop then return around 9pm. I recommend lunch could be shorter by 30 mins when there was nothing to explore★
