It's difficult and not immediately clear how to activate an e-SIM on iOS, but it's much simpler on Android. It was impossible to use a physical SIM card (possibly due to the Megfon carrier's fault).★

I ordered two eSIM cards. One for me and one for my wife. For some reason, the connection didn't work in China, which was disappointing at first. Then it turned out I needed to enable roaming in the SIM card settings (iPhone 17). And I got a connection in the Philippines. The reception is pretty good, you can even make video calls.
