• The Alhambra has stood in Granada since the Middle Ages, with a history of over 600 years • Explore the dazzling Moorish heritage, whose intricate designs and exquisite details will transport you back in time • Ascend the western end of the tower to enjoy a panoramic view of Granada centered around the cathedral and create your own "Alhambra memories" △The Alhambra mainly consists of the Alcazaba fortress, the Nasrid Palaces, and the Generalife, among which the Court of the Lions and the Patio de la Acequia are must-see attractions. In addition, the watchtower at the western end offers a panoramic view of the city of Granada. △The palace of the nasrids is the highlight of Alhambra. The exquisite stalactite decorations on the dome and the Arabic inscriptions of the Quran on the walls vividly reflect the prosperity of the former palace. △ [Palace of Charles V] The quadrilateral palace was built after the Christian Reconquista, featuring an astonishing circular double courtyard supported by 32 columns. It displays artifacts from the Nasrid period, including large tin-glazed pottery jars (such as the 14th-century "Antelope Jar"). The upper-floor art gallery saves Spanish paintings from the 16th century onward, predominantly religious-themed works.Granada · 933m from downtown

Located in the center of GranadaGranada Cathedral, is a Christian cathedral, built in 1523. After 180 years of construction, this church layers its original Gothic design, Renaissance main structure, and Baroque facade onto a single building, making it one of the landmarks of Granada. Though not particularly grand in scale, it stands as a key witness to Granada's tumultuous history. If you observe carefully, every brick and tile in the church reveals architectural imprints from different periods. The central chapel of the cathedral features a majestic 45 m-high dome, and while its architectural style is hard to define, the stained glass windows surrounding it—reaching the same height as the dome—are truly remarkable.Granada · 94m from downtown

This exquisite and ornate building in the center of Granada is a Catholic monastery inaugurated in 1504, some 600 years ago. The monastery was moved here from the monastery of the two Catholic popes on the outskirts of Granada. It mixes Gothic and Renaissance architectural styles. The altar of the central chapel depicting the Assumption of the Virgin uses a lot of exquisite relief technology, which is luxurious. The end of Islam was the cause of the common struggle of two Catholic popes, and the coffin of Marshal Córdoba, who played a major role in the battle for the dominion of Granada, is also housed here. In the hinterland of the monastery, there are two graceful and luxurious courtyards, which are enough to make the tourists who pass through them revel in the elegant atmosphere of the monastery.Granada · 546m from downtown

Hammam Al Ándalus

Hammam Arab Baths is a relatively well-preserved Nasrid-style bathhouse in the Albayzin district. It restores the 13th-century water circulation system. The dome star-shaped light-transmitting design and the horseshoe arcade form a light and shadow theater. Reservations must be made in advance on the official website. The basic bathing includes a three-temperature pool experience. It is recommended to add an Andalusian rose essential oil massage. It can be reached by walking along Calle Elvira from the cathedral. Please note that you need to wear non-slip shoes on the steep section of the cobblestone road. The locker room provides heated marble lounge chairs, and it is recommended to bring waterproof bags for jewelry. You can order saffron ice cream in the adjacent teahouse, and you can enjoy discounts with a bathhouse bracelet.   In winter, the floor heating is turned on all day, but the water temperature is lower during the maintenance period on Tuesday morning. There is a luggage locker at the nearby C31 bus stop. It is forbidden to bring a mobile phone into the bathing area, and a cultural permit voucher must be purchased for photography. In summer, it is recommended to choose the 20:00 time period, and the open-air observation deck can simultaneously overlook the night view of the Alhambra Palace.Granada · 410m from downtown

Patio de Los Leones

Patio de Los Leones is the main courtyard of thePalace of the Lionsand is widely considered a masterpiece of Nasrid architecture. The courtyard is a long, narrow rectangle oriented east-west, nearly 30 m long and approx. 16 m wide. It is surrounded by a low colonnade supported by over 100 white marble columns, with single columns alternating with groups of two or three, creating a rhythmic pattern of varying density along the arcade. At the north and south ends, square pavilions project into the courtyard, their wooden domes featuring honeycomb-like carvings that some researchers compare to a memory of tent dwellings in the desert. The Fountain of the Lions in the center of the courtyard is the source of its name: a twelve-sided basin is supported by twelve marble lions, with thin streams of water flowing from their mouths. The rim of the basin is inscribed with a poem by the court poet Ibn Zamrak, which likens the Sultan's benevolence to the clear spring water that irrigates the garden. Four water channels extend along the central axes of the courtyard in a cross shape, meeting at the base of the fountain and dividing the marble floor into four sections, corresponding to the traditional Islamic garden imagery of the four rivers of Paradise. The entire courtyard is thus often interpreted as a paradise written in water and colonnades. In the stucco decorations between the capitals and arches, lozenge patterns, vegetal scrolls, geometric motifs, and calligraphic inscriptions are intricately interwoven, while the dado is lined with blue and gold glazed tiles. The halls surrounding the courtyard are renowned for their complex honeycomb vaults; whether looking up at the domes or down at the water channels, one can see scenery different from a mere passing glance.Granada · 824m from downtown

The Royal Chapel is an exquisite building completed before the Cathedral of Granada in the first half of the 16th century. Now it and the Cathedral of Granada form a more popular cultural scenic spot in the city center. According to Queen Isabel's last words, the chapel houses the coffins of two Catholic popes. The most worth seeing place is the golden iron fence bedroom (Mausoleo) in the center of the chapel. The two pairs of marble pedestal-shaped tombstones standing side by side are clearly visible. The family crest, saints, angels and lions are carved and decorated, which is magnificent. In the underground coffin room, there is also an eye-catching small coffin, nestled beside the four simple coffins, which is the coffin of Prince Miguel, the grandson of Isabel who died at an early age.Granada · 107m from downtown

Beautiful place, rich with history and an abundance of instagrammable shots for the social media moguls. I would advise booking tickets in advance as they sell out and make sure you include the Nasrid palace to it and immerse yourself in the history of these wonderful moorish buildings.

The exterior is magnificent and rugged, but the interior is exquisite and magnificent. There is no Islamic architectural style, but a thorough Catholic church style. The Catholic Tomb of the Two Kings is next to the chapel, which requires additional tickets to visit.

San Nicolas Square (Plaza de San Nicolas) is a lively place any time of day, with craftsmen, flamenco dancers, and street musicians setting up along the paving stones to entertain visitors. At dusk, crowds of locals and tourists turn out to watch the sunset over the palace grounds before adjourning to restaurants and tea shops on nearby Elvira Street.

This monastery is not the most famous one in Granada, but I think it is worth visiting. The entire scale is very large, especially its main building, which feels like a small palace.

Coming out of the Alham Palace Garden, the snowstorm was even stronger. I barely had a good look at the square, typical European-style exterior of the Carlos V Palace before rushing in. I was immediately shocked by the two-story Roman Colosseum-style circular building. I walked around it again and again, up and down, and took photos inside and out. Carlos V was built in 1527 by the architect Pedro Machuca of Toledo. It is a magnificent Renaissance palace and a very important building in the Spanish Renaissance. Looking down from the air, the whole is square, but it contains an amazing circular double courtyard supported by 32 columns. The palace can be viewed from different angles.

There is an inconspicuous royal chapel in the alley behind the cathedral in the center of Granada. The two most famous kings in Spanish history are buried here, Queen Isabella of Castile and King Fernando of Aragon. Photography is not allowed in the chapel, but it is necessary to understand the history.
