Mingshan Scenic Area

87 reviews
Mingshan Scenic Area is located on Mingshan Island in the Heilongjiang River, facing Luobei Port to the south and looking out toward Amurzet, Russia, to the north. Surrounded by river water, with dense ancient trees, birdsong, and wild charm, it presents a rustic, rugged, and unadorned natural ecological landscape. The island has fertile soil, forested areas, and dense vegetation. It is home to various broad-leaved trees such as birch, willow, elm, and poplar, as well as many small omnivorous animals like foxes, weasels, and sables. It also serves as a habitat for summer migratory waterbirds such as egrets. After years of river erosion, the banks have collapsed, the sandy beaches have expanded, and the river channels have widened. Although the island's area has shrunk, the lush willow trees growing around it have protected the island, so its overall size has not changed significantly. Mingshan Island is shaped like a dragon. Legend has it that the Dragon King of the Heilongjiang River once fought a white dragon here and later lay down on this spot, which is why the island is also known as Heilong Island. Mingshan Island is 3,500 m long from east to west and 500 m wide from north to south. From west to east, it is divided into five functional areas: the water sightseeing area, the comprehensive sightseeing area, the villa area, the Yantongjiang Temple, and the garden hunting area. The island features gentle sandy beaches that serve as a natural swimming area, and it also offers views of exotic foreign scenery.Luobei · 23 km from downtown

Hegang National Forest Park was established in 2002. It covers an area of 80,000 mu, including Xilin River Folk Custom Park, Shili River Ecological Scenic Area and Tongzigou original natural Korean pine mother forest. In the park, the mountains are continuous, the forest is dense, the birds are singing and the flowers are fragrant, the rivers are vertical and horizontal, the mountaineering is far-reaching, the mountains are verdant, and the misty waves are like the turbulent sea, which is refreshing. The large forests and wetlands here maintain their original appearance, and are inhabited by a large number of water birds and rare birds, such as swans and mandarin ducks. The excellent ecological environment is of great protection value. The ancient trees of the Korean pine virgin forest are towering, the streams are gurgling, the temperature is light and dark, and the dead and dead trees are hidden and appear, showing its ancient and vicissitudes. Walking in the forest, you can see the scenery of the virgin forest and feel the charm of nature.Hegang · 22.6 km from downtown

Hengdaohezi Townis a century-old town that flourished due to the Chinese Eastern Railway. When the railway was built, a large number of Russian engineers settled here, leaving behind many old Russian-style buildings in the town: the Orthodox Church of the Presentation of the Virgin, rows of Russian-style wooden houses, the Railway White Building, and the former site of the police station, all spread out along the old street. The fan-shaped locomotive depot is the town's landmark building. Built in 1903, its 15 arched doors are arranged radially around a turntable. It was originally designed to add auxiliary locomotives for trains crossing the Zhangguangcai Mountains and has now been converted into the Chinese Eastern Railway Museum. The town also features an oil painting village. Universities such as the Luxun Academy of Fine Arts use this place as a sketching training base, and it is common to see teachers and students with drawing boards painting by the old houses and railway tracks.China · Hailin

Sanjiangkou Scenic Area

203 reviews
Sanjiangkou Scenic Areais located in the northeastern suburbs of Tongjiang, Heilongjiang Province, at the confluence of the Songhua River and the Heilongjiang. The two rivers meet here, and the combined river section was historically called the Huntong River. The place name originates from the "three rivers"—the Heilongjiang, the Songhua River, and the Huntong River. The scenic area is known for "rivers converging here, roads starting here, and seas connecting here": the Songhua River and the Heilongjiang flow eastward side by side; the Tongsan Expressway, which runs from north to south, starts here at kilometer zero and heads south all the way to Sanya, Hainan; and the Heilongjiang flows eastward from here, rushing into the sea. There are two must-see spots here. The first is the Tongsan Expressway Kilometer Zero Marker Tower: the tower is pure white and over 30 m high. Its square conical body and spiraling curved rings form a "T" and "S" pattern, which is an abstract representation of the pinyin initials for "Tongsan." The top of the tower is shaped like a steering wheel. Standing under the tower is like standing at the starting point of this north-south thoroughfare. The second is the "distinct as the Jing and Wei rivers" spectacle of the two rivers: the water of the Heilongjiang is dark green, calm, and vast, while the Songhua River brings silt, making its water muddy yellow. After the two-colored river waters converge, they flow eastward side by side for dozens of miles without mixing, with a clear boundary. Many people come specifically for this sight. The park also houses the Hezhe Ethnic Museum, which displays artifacts of the Hezhe people's production and life from various historical periods, allowing you to get an up-close look at this ethnic group that has fished and hunted on the river for generations. The Sanjiangkou Square, sculpture groups, and a white viewing corridor are spread out along the river. The corridor is a place to rest and take shelter from the rain, as well as a great spot for viewing the river. Across the Heilongjiang is Russia; leaning against the railing, you can look out at the foreign scenery, and the boundary marker by the river is a popular photo spot. If you visit in autumn, the colorful forests along the river contrast beautifully with the two-colored river surface, making it a great time for photography. In Tongjiang, you can also taste Hezhe delicacies such as talaha and river fish stew.China · Tongjiang

Yichun Xing'an National Forest Park, established in 1981, is a long-standing primitive forest park located in Yichun. The Tangwang River and Yichun River flow around it, nourishing the lush vegetation. Dominated by red pines—iconic trees of northern China—these towering evergreens thrive undisturbed in this pristine environment. Most pines here are 300–400 years old, creating an ancient, majestic landscape that exudes timeless grandeur. Beyond the Korean pines, numerous nationally protected rare plants stand tall in the surroundings. Spruces, cork trees, firs, Manchurian ashes, elms, and Mongolian pines can be seen everywhere, bearing witness to the timeless history of this natural paradise like a wise elder who has seen it all, calmly welcoming visitors from afar. In addition to pristine landscapes, the forest park features several recreational facilities. Visitors can observe various wildlife in the animal viewing area and discover the region's unique wild wonders. During winter, the park specially opens ski trails where you can ride snowmobiles through the snowy forest. A visit to Yichun Xing'an National Forest Park promises plenty of joy and memorable experiences.China · Yichun

Zhenbao Island

Zhenbao Island is located on the Ussuri River and is about 2 kilometers long. It is called Zhenbao Island because of its shape like ingots. Zhenbao Island was originally a peninsula that stretched into the Ussuri River from the Chinese side. Later, it became a small island after a long-term impact of currents. During the dry season in summer, Zhenbao Island will be connected with the Chinese land in the Ussuri River to restore the original appearance of the peninsula. The older generation of Chinese fishermen on the Ussuri River also called Zhenbao Island "Wengdao". Zhenbao Island is a small island with an area of only 0.74 square kilometers, but it attracted worldwide attention due to the Zhenbao Island incident in the late 1960s. Standing on the stone monument on the riverside, "the first victory on one island in a century" reminds people of the Sino-Soviet battle more than 30 years ago - Zhenbao Island's self-defense counterattack, which ended with our victory. Since Zhenbao Island's self-defense counterattack, Zhenbao Island has been a military restricted area, and local residents and tourists have been prohibited from landing on the island. It was not until the disintegration of the Soviet Union that some tourists were allowed to visit the island with the consent of the military. On the island, the first thing you see is the solemn gate of the camp with "Chinese Treasure Island" written on it. On the higher plots of the island, the soldiers who guarded the island from generation to generation overcame many difficulties and built "Beijing Road", "Jinshui Bridge", "Nanjing Road" and "Shanghai Road" to express their determination to defend the treasured island to the death. The smoke of gunpowder dissipated, and the heroes passed away. Today, Zhenbao Island has become a famous red tourist destination for patriotism.China · Hulin

China Forest Capital Woodcarving Garden was built in April 2002, located along Huayuan Road in Yichun District, Yichun City, the Forest Capital, and spans 8,800 square meters. It is an important landmark in Yichun City that highlights its cultural characteristics and artistic taste. The design of the entire park adopts an approach that combines functionality with landscaping, and sculptures with facilities, integrating the traditional culture of the forest region with modern styling to highlight the theme of "Nature and Life." Based on the terrain characteristics along the west side of Huayuan Road, the woodcarving park is divided into four sections: the Archway Landscape Area, the Woodcarving Gallery Area, the Central Viewing Area, and the Leisure and Entertainment Area. Each section has a relatively distinct theme while remaining interconnected, forming an organic whole.China · Yichun

Jiayin Riverside Park, located in Chaoyang Town, Jiayin County, Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province, is a riverside park that combines natural scenery with cultural history. The park is located on the south bank of the Heilongjiang River and faces Russia to the north. Its unique geographical location makes it a shining pearl on the Sino-Russian border. There are multiple functional areas in the park, including a musical fountain, a children's play area, a river viewing platform and a fitness trail. The musical fountain changes its shape with the rhythm, and is particularly spectacular under the lights at night; the river viewing platform allows you to enjoy the magnificent river view of the Heilongjiang River up close and overlook the exotic scenery of Russia on the other side. The park also incorporates the characteristics of Jiayin's "Hometown of Dinosaurs", with dinosaur-themed sculptures and slides, which vividly reproduce the image of ancient creatures and add fun. As a landmark attraction on the Sino-Russian border, the European architectural style of the riverside park and the Russian style elements complement each other. The viewing field on the flood control dam is ideal, and you can see the riverside scenery of the two countries. The Border Park not only showcases the natural and cultural charm of Jiayin, but also carries the unique charm of a small border town. It is a must-visit place for exploring the scenery of the North.China · Jiayin

Hegang National Forest Park is an important natural ecological scenic area in Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province. The following is a review and analysis from multiple perspectives for your reference: I. Core Advantages and Highlights * **Rich Ecological Resources:** Extremely high forest coverage, dominated by primary and secondary forests such as Korean pine and fir, preserving a relatively complete temperate forest ecosystem, suitable for nature observation and ecological research. **Outstanding Biodiversity:** Common wild animals (such as roe deer and pheasants) and birds make it a potential destination for photography and birdwatching enthusiasts. **Distinctive Seasonal Landscapes:** * **Spring and Summer:** Lush green forests and clear streams, ideal for hiking and escaping the summer heat. * **Autumn:** The colorful "Five-Colored Mountain" landscape (maple, birch, and other trees with changing leaves) is visually stunning. * **Winter:** A vast snow-covered forest landscape, offering opportunities for snow hiking and rime ice photography. **Low Development and Pristine Nature:** Compared to popular forest parks, this park has fewer tourists and limited commercial facilities, making it more suitable for visitors seeking tranquility and a pristine natural experience. II. Potential Shortcomings and Precautions * **Relatively Basic Facilities:** Transportation, accommodation, and dining options are basic, making it more suitable for self-driving tours or backpackers. Those prioritizing comfort should plan ahead. * **The signage system within the scenic area may be inadequate; it is recommended to download offline maps or consult a local guide beforehand.** * **Limited Entertainment and Convenience:** Primarily focused on nature sightseeing and hiking, it lacks large-scale entertainment projects or family-friendly facilities, making it unsuitable for tourists seeking diverse entertainment options. * **Potentially Weak Cellphone Signal in Some Areas; Safety Precautions and Traveling in Groups are advised.** * **Strong Seasonal Restrictions:** The best time to visit is from May to October. Winter is harsh, and some roads may be closed; confirm opening status in advance. III. Suitable for: * **Nature Enthusiasts:** Tourists who enjoy hiking, plant observation, and wildlife photography. * **Travelers Seeking Tranquility:** Travelers seeking to avoid crowds and enjoy the healing power of the forest and solitude. * **In-Depth Northeast China Tours:** Can be a stop on an ecotourism trip to Hegang (or the Lesser Khingan Mountains region), combined with plans to visit surrounding attractions. IV. Travel Recommendations * **Transportation:** Self-driving or hiring a car is recommended, as public transportation is infrequent. It's about a 1-2 hour drive from downtown Hegang. Equipment: Prepare non-slip hiking shoes, a windproof jacket, insect repellent, and warm clothing for winter. Safety: Avoid venturing alone into undeveloped areas. Be mindful of fire prevention (especially in spring and autumn) and wildlife protection. Nearby Activities: A 2-3 day trip can be planned in conjunction with Hegang city (Coal Mine Museum, Songhe Park), Luobei Port, etc. V. Summary: The core value of Hegang National Forest Park lies in the ecological experience of its pristine forest and the distinct natural beauty of its four seasons. It's suitable for travelers tired of commercialized scenic spots and yearning for an immersive natural environment. However, it's advisable to lower expectations for amenities and prepare your itinerary carefully to better enjoy the wildness and tranquility of this northern forest.

In late September, the autumn atmosphere of Hengdaohezi Town was in full swing, its beauty reminiscent of a richly colored oil painting. A thin morning mist shrouded the forest, and sunlight filtered through the branches, scattering golden leaves across the ground like scattered gold. The air was filled with the delicate fragrance of pine resin and earth, a deep breath refreshing and refreshing. This town prospered thanks to the Chinese Eastern Railway, a century ago serving as a major railway hub. Today, the old locomotive shed, water tower, and remnants of the railway tracks stand quietly, testament to its former prosperity. Russian-style architecture dotted the landscape, with pointed wooden houses and carved window frames complementing the autumn colors, creating a sense of time travel. Stone-paved streets meandered along, punctuated by a staggered arrangement of wooden houses. Red peppers and ears of corn hanging from the eaves complemented the Russian-style carved balconies. Occasionally, a horse-drawn carriage passed by, the clatter of horse hooves echoing through the streets, blending with the distant whistle of a train, creating a unique and captivating atmosphere. Outside the town, surrounded by mountains, the forests are a vibrant tapestry. Red, yellow, orange, and green interweave into a vibrant canvas, reflected in the clear river. A gentle breeze sways light and shadows, and fallen leaves drift on the water, carrying away the lingering warmth of summer. Autumn in Hengdaohezi is not only a visual feast but also a spiritual retreat. Local residents leisurely sit in front of their homes, basking in the sun, while children chase and play in the woods. The slow and relaxing pace here makes one forget the hustle and bustle of the city. In the evening, the setting sun bathes the town in a golden glow. Standing on the bridge, the historic weight of the Middle East Railway, the exotic charm of Russian architecture, and the rich autumn atmosphere blend seamlessly, creating a unique charm that makes Hengdaohezi so unforgettable.

Jiayin Riverside Greenway The entrance to the Riverside Greenway (Lesser Khingan Mountains Forest Trail) is located on the easternmost side of Jiayin Riverside Park. The Riverside Greenway stretches approximately 20 kilometers from Taiping Island in the northwest to the East Lake Scenic Area in the southeast. The route is divided into four sections, each featuring scenic vistas: the Grand River Scenic Area, the Town Park Section, the River Beach and Bay Section, and the Natural Pastoral Section. In 2025, the Jiayin County government renovated the greenway near Riverside Park, resurfacing 1.68 kilometers of pavement, installing over 200 meters of fluorescent trails, and constructing China's first interactive dinosaur-themed running wall. The fluorescent trail is designed with a variety of dinosaur element patterns, which can emit soft fluorescence at night; the dinosaur running wall is actually a large LED screen, which combines the characteristics of Jiayin and shows the scenes of dinosaurs greeting and running; the greenway is also designed with an interactive projection function, so children can interact with the projected images and play games such as playing football and elimination games on the ground. It has become a new place for children to run and play in the evening, adding a beautiful landscape to Jiayin County, the hometown of dinosaurs.
