Siberia Tiger Park in Heilongjiang is located on the north bank of the Songhua River in Harbin and officially opened to the public in 1996. It is a themed park integrating Siberian tiger breeding, scientific research and conservation, science education, and tourism. The park features several visiting areas, including the free-roaming zone, walking zone, tiger viewing platform, feeding and science education center, maple plaza, and cub playground. The free-roaming zone requires visitors to ride a tour bus through the area, where, under safe guidance, they can observe herds of Siberian tigers up close, watch them being fed, and feel the thrill of tigers pacing, staring, and even approaching the bus windows. The other areas can be explored on foot. In addition to purebred Siberian tigers, the park is also home to various rare felines, including white tigers, white lions, ligers, leopards, caracals, servals, and leopard cats. At the cub playground, visitors can see tiger cubs and lion cubs, making it a favorite spot for families. The park features distinct scenery across the four seasons, with winter and summer being particularly outstanding. In winter, amidst the blanket of white snow, the brightly colored Siberian tigers stand out strikingly against the snowy backdrop; in summer, with lush vegetation, tiger tracks can be seen everywhere, offering a unique touch of wild charm.China · Harbin

Harbin Sightseeing Cableway starts from Tongjiang Square in the south and reaches Sun Island Scenic Area in the north. It spans the Songhua River and is a well-known sightseeing means of transportation. The total length of the cableway is 1,156 meters, and the cableway bracket in the middle of the river is more than 70 meters away from the river. Riding in the car can overlook the panoramic view of both sides of the Songhua River, and the scenery is endless. Harbin Sightseeing Cableway is one of Harbin's key projects that was built and constructed with a huge investment in 1997. It introduced equipment from the world's senior ropeway equipment company, Austrian Doppelmayr Company, and ranks among the high-end international ropeways today. The cableway is adjacent to Stalin Park, the Flood Control Memorial Tower, and Central Street. It is like a jade belt that closely connects the two sides of the Songhua River. The ropeway is equipped with 19 fully automatic and fully enclosed 8-person high-end gondolas and 6 luxury gondolas. The gondolas have built-in sofas, bar counters and speakers, which are comfortable, elegant, warm and romantic. The ropeway runs at a speed of 1-5 meters per second, and it is fast and slow. You can enjoy the northern scenery and urban customs while strolling around, and the scenery "everywhere you go" is endless. So far, the ropeway has been in operation for more than 20 years, and its safety factor has reached 100%.China · Harbin

Zhalong Ecotourism Area

7.5
4.6/5
5.6k reviews
Zhalong Ecotourism Area is located over 30 km southeast of Qiqihar city. It is one of the world's largest reed wetlands and the homeland of red-crowned cranes. The red-crowned crane is an endangered bird species, with fewer than 2,000 remaining worldwide. From March to October each year, about 400 red-crowned cranes migrate to Zhalong Wetland near the observation deck for breeding and resting. Here, visitors can admire the graceful figures of these cranes—either soaring in flight or wading through reeds in search of food. Every year, numerous photography enthusiasts come to capture these beautiful scenes. The crane flight training is a signature attraction of the scenic area, with approximately 20-30 red-crowned cranes participating in each session. You'll see a group of red-crowned cranes in the distance begin their takeoff run and flight under the guidance of handlers waving poles, circling briefly in the air before returning to the training area. Since the training area is some distance from the crane observation deck, photography enthusiasts should prepare telephoto lenses to capture spectacular shots. In addition to red-crowned cranes, you can also spot rare birds like Siberian cranes, hooded cranes, white-naped cranes, and demoiselle cranes here. The red-crowned crane flight training lasts only about 2 minutes, so be sure to arrive early. June to September is the best time to observe cranes, as there are more red-crowned cranes during this period. Some red-crowned cranes no longer migrate, so you can still see a few cranes in winter, though rarely. The reserve is a reed wetland with crisscrossing waterways, scattered lakes and marshes, and long wooden boardwalks built over the water. The attraction is quite large, and a full visit usually takes half a day. From the entrance to the crane observation area, there is a long stretch that can be covered by shuttle bus. The round-trip fare is CNY 10 per person. Board directly after ticket inspection and get off in front of the reception hall, then walk 2 km (about 30 mins) to reach the flight training platform. Upon arrival at the attraction, it is advisable to check the flight training schedule first. If pressed for time, you can take electric bikes directly to the terminal station, then walk approx. 20 minutes to the crane release boardwalk to await the flight training. In case of special weather conditions (such as strong winds, rain, high temperatures, or other force majeure factors), the flight training may be less effective or canceled. You can also take a cruise (CNY 50 per person, approx. 20 minutes) through the reed marshes within the attraction, with the terminal point at the crane release boardwalk.China · Qiqihar

A beautiful place filled with stunning ice sculptures illuminated by colourful lights. I had such a wonderful time exploring the place, although the temperature was extremely cold. However, getting a Didi ride back at night was very difficult, so I had no choice but to take the bus instead.

A great place for visitors of all ages, from babies to the elderly! The park is very family-friendly and offers a unique experience for everyone. The bus driver who took us into the tiger park was very professional and knowledgeable. You can even buy meat directly from the driver on the bus to feed the tigers, which makes the experience even more exciting! There are so many tigers in the park that it is truly impressive and almost unbelievable to see them up close. It’s a fascinating experience to observe these magnificent animals in their natural-like environment.Overall, it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in Harbin. Highly recommended for families, animal lovers, and anyone looking for a unique and memorable experience!

After visiting the Tiger Park, we took a taxi to Sun Island and then prepared to take the cable car back to our hotel across the river. Since it was a weekday, there weren't many tourists, and we got on without queuing. When the cable car reached its highest point, the panoramic view of Sun Island, the Songhua River, and the city was breathtaking. We even saw a flock of seagulls! A trip to Harbin definitely includes taking the cross-river cable car at least once.

Standing beside the boundary marker, a sense of pride welled up within me, a feeling of being at the northernmost tip of our motherland. The compass square and unique sculptures in the village are very well-designed; every snapshot is a masterpiece. Looking at the border scenery under the blue sky and white clouds, I felt incredibly at ease. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to experience the ultimate northern charm! 😋

Wow! Be mindful of the season when visiting the island. This park isn't primarily for tourists; it's more popular with locals and residents. The weather is very important when you go, so make sure to check the weather forecast carefully, as it can get a little chilly. The park itself is quite large and has a Russian theme. The town also has a panda enclosure, which costs extra. The pandas are very cooperative; there are two in total, and they're incredibly cute. If it's not too crowded, the experience is fantastic.

The shuttle bus ticket is a must-buy because the main gate is really far away. It seems like it's essential, especially since you have to walk a long way after getting off the shuttle. There's a speedboat that goes directly there, but it's unnecessary. Although the walk is tiring, the scenery is beautiful, and you can see several red-crowned cranes strolling along the roadside every now and then.

Definitely worth a visit! Highly recommend the Polar Pavilion (six main pavilions, showcasing a wide variety of polar animals, including polar bears, Arctic wolves, Antarctic penguins, sea lions, meerkats, capybaras, flamingos, raccoons, etc.). Impression: Feminine friendly (specifically, there's an emergency phone number in the women's restroom). My unexpected period caused weakness, but thankfully, staff provided free sanitary napkins – a lifesaver! Thank goodness! Suggested improvement: Replace scented sanitary napkins with unscented ones. Many people experience allergic reactions to these, making the discomfort worse.
