Wuzhen is an ancient Jiangnan town with a long history in the northern suburbs of Tongxiang. The main scenic areas are divided into Xizha and Dongzha. Enjoying the night view of Xizha, riding a rowing boat and watching folk performances are experiences that tourists will not miss. This is also the filming location for "In Time" starring Huang Lei and Rene Liu. Dongzha and Xizha are about 1.5 kilometers apart. If you want to visit both Dongzha and Xizha in one day, you should arrive at Wuzhen early in the morning. You can visit Dongzha first (2-3 hours), and then start visiting Xizha after lunch. We visited Xizha and stayed until night to watch the night view in Xizha. If you have two days to spare, you can consider one day each in Xizha and Dongzha. Xitang Ancient Town is located in Jiashan, Zhejiang Province, at the junction of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai. Formerly known as Xutang, Xietang, and Pingchuan, it was the border area between the states of Wu and Yue during the Spring and Autumn Period, and is often referred to as the "root of Wu and corner of Yue." Unlike many overly commercialized water towns, a large number of local residents still live in the town. In the early morning, it's common to see elderly women washing clothes at the riverbanks, and in the afternoon, senior leisurely playing chess under the covered walkways, earning it the title of "a living, thousand-year-old town." Its numerous bridges, alleys, and covered walkways are its three main distinguishing features from other Jiangnan water towns. The covered walkways built along the river stretch for nearly a kilometer, concentrated in the Chaonandai and Beizhajie areas. Walking under them on rainy days keeps your clothes dry, hence the name "Rainy Covered Walkways." One side of the walkways is lined with shops selling local specialties and snacks, as well as residences, while the other side faces the river. Some walkways have benches with backrests, allowing you to sit down and watch the rowing boats go by when you get tired. During the rainy season, sitting under the walkways listening to the rain and watching the water offers a unique waterside charm. The town also has over a hundred ancient alleyways, mostly paved with stone slabs. Among them, Shipi Alley in Xiaxi Street is particularly famous; in its narrowest point, it's less than a meter wide, requiring two people to turn sideways to pass each other. Looking up, you can only see a sliver of sky, hence the name "Xitang One-Line Sky." More than twenty ancient stone bridges span the waterways of the ancient town: Yongning Bridge is a great vantage point overlooking the confluence of the rivers and the continuous rows of black-tiled roofs, and the scenery is particularly pristine when there are few people in the early morning; Songzi Laifeng Bridge has a canopy on its roof and stone seats for people to rest, and its design is quite unique among ancient bridges in Jiangnan; Huanxiu Bridge offers a distant view of layers of green tiles; Wan'an Bridge is the filming location for the ending scene of the movie "Mission: Impossible III", where Tom Cruise's chase scene between the bridges in the ancient town was filmed. Xiyuan and Zuiyuan in the town are exquisite Jiangnan-style gardens. Every few steps, you'll find stalls selling stinky tofu, tofu pudding, steamed pork with rice flour, braised pork belly, water chestnut cake, and sweet fermented rice balls. The old restaurants along Beizha Street offer authentic Jiangnan cuisine. If you visit in late autumn, you might catch the Hanfu Culture Week, initiated by lyricist Vincent Fang and now running for over a decade, where the town is filled with flowing Hanfu, enhancing the ancient atmosphere. I bought a combined ticket, and unless you go to the attractions very early in the morning, the time might be a bit rushed for first-time visitors to Wuzhen. However, overall, the environment and service experience made it a very worthwhile trip. I would highly recommend it to my friends. I would definitely come back again if I have the chance, because there are some interesting and engaging attractions that you simply can't fit in one day. ☺️

Among many touristic cities with ancient vibes, Xitang was very outstanding. It is not very crowded in late October, but cozy and nice, with many stores and street food. As Xitang is not as famous as Fenghuang or Suzhou, the prices for everything, including souvenirs, are very modest. The boat trip under the red lanterns is the must!

Ban ngày, cổ trấn đẹp nên thơ với những cây cầu soi bóng xuống dòng nước. Đến tối, ánh đèn thắp lên dọc hai bờ kênh, cả khu phố trở nên lung linh như một thước phim cổ trang.Cổ trấn đủ rộng để khám phá trọn một ngày, nhưng không quá đông đúc hay nhộn nhạo. Cứ thong thả đi bộ, ngắm cảnh, ghé một quán trà rồi lại đi tiếp, chẳng cần vội vàng chạy từ điểm này sang điểm khác.Với mình, một cổ trấn đẹp không chỉ nằm ở kiến trúc, mà còn ở cảm giác khi mình đi qua nó. Và Bộc Viện làm điều đó tốt hơn Ô Trấn một chúttt nha

Every time I visit Jiaxing, I always make sure to stroll through the Yuehe Historical District 🚶‍♂️ I love seeing the teahouses along the river, each with its own unique style 🍵, and I especially love browsing the dazzling array of flowers and birds 🌸🐦 When I get hungry, I grab some local snacks from the street vendors 🍡, or find a restaurant I like and savor some of their signature dishes 😋 Visiting on a rainy day creates an even better atmosphere ☔️. The traditional Chinese buildings along the water have a special charm in the mist 📸. Yanguan Ancient Town is definitely worth a visit; it completely exceeded my expectations. There are many genuine ancient buildings within the town, and strolling around at a leisurely pace is very relaxing. The food prices are surprisingly reasonable compared to other ancient towns. The only downside is that many ancient buildings were locked, resulting in some areas being less crowded. Overall, Yanguan Ancient Town offers excellent value for money and is highly recommended.

Historical relics include the Fish Scale Stone Embankment (originally built over 1700 years ago, renovated into a large fish-scale stone embankment during the Kangxi era of the Qing Dynasty, considered one of the three great ancient architectural projects alongside the Great Wall and the Grand Canal); and the Zhan'ao Pagoda (a Ming Dynasty structure, offering panoramic views of the Qiantang River from its summit). Other attractions include the Mao Zedong Tide-Watching Poem Stele Pavilion and the Zhenhai Iron Ox. The high tides occur from the 1st to the 6th and from the 15th to the 20th of each lunar month, offering the spectacular "One-Line Tide" phenomenon.

Overall, the attractions inside aren't very engaging. Eighty percent of the ancient buildings within the scenic area are closed. The immersive role-playing game is more suitable for older children; you can just stroll around, take a boat ride, and then leave. The most unique feature is actually the two waterfall walls outside the entrance, where music and flowing water create a truly immersive experience.
