Wengding Wa is a primitive collective village located in Mengjiao Township, Cangyuan Wa Autonomous County, Lincang City. The natural scenery around the village is beautiful. Because it is basically undeveloped, it still retains the original ethnic architectural style and simple customs of the Wa people. It is a relatively well-preserved primitive group village so far. Walking into the village, it is an open singing venue. Usually, collective activities unique to the Wa ethnic group such as bullying and pulling wooden drums in the stockade are held here. The entire stockade is a bamboo and wooden house with dry columns, facing the sun and mountains, and it is scattered. The log is the skeleton that supports the house. Bamboo boards are used as the floor, wooden walls, and thatched roofs. The indigenous Wa people are hospitable and live a simple life of self-sufficiency. Whenever tourists come here, they will beat wooden drums and sing "Jia Le Jia Le Si~" to welcome them.Cangyuan · 16.8 km from downtown

The ancient town of Lushi, formerly known as Alusi, is a famous historical town with a long history and profound cultural heritage. It is one of the main roads of the ancient tea-horse road in ancient western Yunnan in Fengqing County, Lincang City, and it is also one of the relatively well-preserved and large-scale ancient buildings in western Yunnan. Because Lu Shi Ancient Town is located on the main road of the Ancient Tea Horse Road and has a long history, people from the south and the north settled here to do business. While the scale of the street market continues to expand, it has formed a "three streets, seven alleys and one square". Long unique pattern. With Sifang Street as the center point of the longitude and latitude lines of the market town, it is distributed in a circle. The residential buildings are mainly based on imitating the northern quadrangle courtyard and the Jiangsu-Zhejiang style triplex courtyard. Siheyuan has gardens, and Sanheyuan has flower terraces, which are painted with murals, poems, and couplets. It is hoped that the house will be round and round, and the wind will gather Qi, and it will be warm and prosperous. At the same time, the architectural model of residential buildings is influenced by the Dali Bai culture, and also has the architectural community of Nanzhao style. Lushi Ancient Town has not yet formed a large-scale commercial tourism, you can live in local folk customs, or stay in the new street above the road. Or go back to Fengqing County for accommodation.Fengqing · 30.1 km from downtown

Not only is it filled with flowers and greenery, but the walls of its houses, which retain the unique architectural features of Wa dwellings, are also covered in murals rich with Wa cultural flair. The murals are diverse, featuring patterns of ancient Wa ancestors' lives, rituals, and villages, as well as modern Wa people farming, falling in love, and crafting wooden drums. Guangyun Burmese Temple is located on the north side of Mengdong Street in Cangyuan Wa Autonomous County, commonly known as "Xuetang Burmese Temple". The architectural style of the temple is largely influenced by the architectural style of the Han nationality. It retains the basic form of the Shangzuo Buddhist temple from the south, and is an organic combination of the Han-style architectural shape and the interior decoration of the courtyard of the Dai nationality. Except for the two giant dragons in front of the door, the woodcarvings of Guangyun Burmese Temple, the doors and windows of the whole hall in front of the temple are all made of openwork patterns, and the skills are extremely fine. There are 10 murals painted on the inner wall of the hall. Most of the murals are outlines of ink hooks and then filled with colors. The styles and techniques are similar to those of the works of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Most of the buildings in the painting are on the top of the mountain with double eaves, which belong to the architectural style of the Han nationality. Among them, the warriors wear crowns and narrow-sleeved shirts with horseshoe mouths, which are typical Qing Dynasty costumes.Cangyuan · 742m from downtown

Wulao Mountain Forest Park is located 15 kilometers east of Lincang City, which is the buffer zone of Lincang Daxueshan Nature Reserve. Looking at the five peaks from a distance, it is like five old people sitting and chatting together, hence the name: Wu Laoshan. Wulao Mountain is tall and steep, with vertical and horizontal valleys, dense forests and dense vines. Every spring and summer, the mountain rhododendrons bloom in full swing, which is quite spectacular. In summer and autumn, the mountains are often surrounded by clouds and mists, and the five peaks in the distance are like immortal islands on the sea, which is beautiful. In the mountains, there is a gurgling stream all year round, and there are golden bamboo forests and large stacks of water flowing down from the cliffs, forming a huge water curtain 30 meters high and more than 3 meters wide. There are rare animals such as monkey-faced eagle, camellia chicken, sunbird, and macaque living in the mountains and forests. It is a free kingdom for animals and plants to reproduce freely.Lincang · 9 km from downtown

Gengma General Buddhist Temple, located in the suburb of Gengma, Gengma County, Yunnan Province, is a Buddhist monastery of Theravada Buddhism in southern Pali language. Hanxie presided over the construction and was built by Zen Master Gengma Yatang. It is also the place where Tusi Gengma and his relatives worship Buddha, also known as Guanmen Temple. The Gengma General Buddhist Temple includes the main hall, the hall, the ordination hall, the pagoda, the monastery, the courtyard, the wall, the temple gate and other parts. The main body of the hall is a brick-wood structure. There are two rows of parallel huge wooden pillars as the main support in the hall. The outer sides of the giant pillars undertake auxiliary beams to form a partial building. The central hall and the side buildings are combined into a triple-eave building covered with blue-grey tiles. The hall is about 30 meters high, 15 meters wide and 27 meters long. The left and right corridors are about 3 meters wide, surrounded by a 1.5-meter-high low wall outside the corridor. There are also eight clay statues behind the statue of Sakyamuni Buddha at the west end of the temple. Except for the water god Wubaogu, the other eight statues are all Arhat statues. There is an additional hall outside the main entrance at the east end of the hall. In the hall, two brick pillars about 6 meters high and 6 giant wooden pillars are erected for support, and the ground is covered with blue bricks. The roof in the middle of the hall is a double eaves and a slope on one side. Above the eaves, there is a Xie Peak and two slopes. Therefore, these three slopes are just scattered between the upper eaves and the middle eaves of the main hall. In addition, the tops of the two sides of the passage hall are built with double eaves respectively, which are connected with the middle and lower eaves of the main hall. This layout makes the main hall and the hall form an overlapping and splendid appearance.Gengma · 364m from downtown

This rare sight of a primitive tribe truly exudes an ancient and weathered charm, making it well worth a visit. However, I personally feel the services could be improved. Firstly, some roads are unsafe, especially for the elderly. Secondly, the road signs and informational displays need repair; many have become blurred and illegible due to wind, sun, and rain, especially since not everyone hires a guide. Additionally, the county's public transportation system should ideally have scheduled routes; taking a taxi back to town is quite difficult, and almost always requires an additional charge on top of the ride-hailing platform. I hope the attraction continues to improve, making it more convenient and enhancing the visitor experience. This last primitive tribe in our country will surely attract even more tourists.

The rock paintings are unique, sharing a similar beauty with the Huashan and Helan Mountain rock paintings. The walkways are spacious and clean, with QR codes providing detailed information on the features, locations, and images of the dozen or so known rock painting sites – meticulous and professional! The core area of the scenic spot is a concentrated area of rock paintings, with vivid and clear depictions of various themes, and the visitor walkways are well-designed. Unfortunately, only one rock painting area is open to the public.

Lushi Ancient Town, the first town on the Ancient Tea-Horse Road in western Yunnan, is one of China's three most mysterious ancient towns. The town boasts a rich history, particularly during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, when the Tea-Horse Road passed through Lushi, becoming a lifeline for international aid efforts against China. The town boasts one of the largest and best-preserved ancient architectural complexes in western Yunnan and is well worth a visit.

Hulu Town is located in Cangyuan County. It is a town built by the government that integrates commerce and Wa culture. As soon as you enter the door, you will see a large bronze gourd. You will know that the gourd is the totem of the Wa people. It is said that the Wa people were born in the gourd. They worship the gourd like their mother!

[Yulong Lake] is located in the northern new district of Lincang City, Yunnan Province, at the intersection of Xihe River and Nanting River. The park named after Yulong Lake is a concentrated display area of the essence of Lincang City's natural and cultural landscapes. It integrates the water landscape experience area of Nanting River, Xihe River and landscape lakes. It is Lincang City's high-quality urban core landscape area, highlighting the long-standing Wa culture and tea culture characteristics of the Lincang area. In particular, the night view of Yulong Lake is of great significance to enhancing the city image and taste of Lincang City.

I arrived in Cangyuan County on March 11, 2026. It was only 500 meters from my hotel to Guangyunmian Temple, so I decided to visit it. The temple is free to enter, but there were very few tourists. The temple seemed poorly maintained; the surrounding open space was piled with building materials, giving it a dilapidated and desolate feel. The temple buildings are nearly 200 years old and are a national key protected cultural relic, yet they stand so forlornly and forlornly in the center of Cangyuan County, which is a bit of a pity.

A new snow mountain road (from Wulao Mountain to Bangdong) has been built, which is worth a walk, without the "Aduwu" smell disturbing! Unfortunately, I was unable to visit the "Sky Meteorite" attraction due to unplanned time (I learned from the locals that it takes 3 hours to hike back and forth), so I can only look forward to the next trip.

It's free of course, and the incense was quite popular. Maybe we arrived in the afternoon, there were not many pilgrims burning incense, mostly tourists. Next to it is Gandong Park, with a beautiful environment. We also visited Baima Square on the way.
