Vinh Trang Pagoda

Vinh Trang Pagoda was built in the early 19th century and has a history of over 100 years. It is located in My Tho City, not far from Saigon. Vinh Trang Pagoda is one of the local temples, housing the mummified remains of monks from centuries ago. In addition, Buddha statues are enshrined in the halls, and giant statues of Maitreya and Guanyin are located in the courtyard. Vinh Trang Pagoda seems to follow the traditional cultural characteristics of Hindu temples in terms of architectural style, with bright and vivid colors, numerous floral decorations, and a light, airy structure; its exterior can be described as magnificent and resplendent. The 60 precious wooden statues enshrined inside are considered artistic masterpieces carved in the early 20th century.

During the resistance war against the imperialists, Con Thoi Son marked the victories of the Western army and people with a battle belt surrounding the Dong Tam base, creating the once famous Binh Duc victory. Previously, the people of Con Thoi Son mainly lived by fishing and aquaculture, along with growing fruit trees in rotation, producing many delicious fruits such as: longan, sapoke, orange, tangerine, grapefruit, durian, bananas, jackfruit, mango... Later, people on the dune developed beekeeping for honey, some households also made puff cakes, rice paper, coconut candy, jam, handicraft items... to serve customers. The name Con Thoi Son also has an ancient house, with typical Southern architecture, with three rooms and two wings, yin-yang tiled roofs, and columns made of precious wood. Inside the house, the decoration is also in the ancient style with a sparkling mother-of-pearl altar cabinet, exquisitely carved sofas, and a pair of tureens carved with parallel sentences painted in red and gilded gold. In front of the house there is a yard planted with ornamental plants that are meticulously manicured, surrounded by a cool green garden..
