Capilano Suspension Bridge Park

4.6/5

Capilano Suspension BridgeLocated in North Vancouver, the 137-meter-long suspension bridge is suspended 70 meters in the air. It is one of the highest pedestrian suspension bridges in the world. More than 100 years ago, it was built by local aborigines using hemp ropes and thick wooden planks. Under the bridge is the fast-flowing Capilano River. When the wind blows through the valley, the suspension bridge sways and makes a sound that sounds like a person's laughter, so it is also called the "Laughing Bridge." 1. Natural scenery The suspension bridge spans the Capilano River and a large area of dense forest. Walking on the suspension bridge, you can not only enjoy the beautiful scenery of the forest, but also have a panoramic view of the snow-capped mountains in the distance and the nearby river valley. You are completely surrounded by nature. If you are lucky, you can also see the gorgeous rainbow caused by the river water vapor. 2. Adventure Experience Cliff Walk: A glass walkway is built between vertical cliffs. There is a deep abyss under your feet, and looking out at the distant scenery from above becomes a thrilling experience. Treetop Adventure: A road is connected by iron ropes and wooden planks halfway up a giant tree, dozens of meters above the ground. You can feel the breath of nature in the forest. 3. History and Culture Near the suspension bridge stands a totem pole representing the culture of Canada's "First Nations" Aboriginal Indians, which is worth stopping to take a look. In the carved wooden house near the store, you can also see Indian carvers demonstrating their carving skills.North Vancouver · 4.3 km from downtown

Formerly a terminal for the Canadian Pacific Railway, construction began in 1983 and opened in 1986 as the Canadian Pavilion at the Vancouver World Expo. Designed by Eberhard Rudler, the building's distinctive design features five fiberglass sails atop a ship, resembling a sailing ship and bearing similarities to the Sydney Opera House. Within, the complex serves as a major cruise terminal for British Columbia's South Shore, departing from here for cruises to Alaska. As a vibrant tourist destination integrating leisure, experiences, and services, it boasts numerous must-see attractions. "Flyover Canada," Canada's only 4D flight simulator, offers visitors an immersive experience of flying across Canada.Vancouver · 4.6 km from North Vancouver

Gastown is located in the northeast corner of downtown Vancouver and is the city's birthplace. The city's development here was closely linked to late 19th-century port trade and railway construction, and the neighborhood retains many historic buildings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Buildings along the street are mostly brick and stone, with common Victorian Italianate and Edwardian commercial architecture. Facades are typically narrow and tall, with shops often occupying the ground floor. Street paving, cast-iron decorative lamps, brick buildings, and street-facing shop windows together create a recognizable urban view.Vancouver · 5 km from North Vancouver

Granville Island was once an industrial manufacturing area filled with factories and warehouses. After its transformation, it has become a waterfront district that brings together food, art, and handicrafts. Today, the island is home to numerous artist studios, galleries, theaters, and marinas. The rugged character of the old industrial buildings blends with the vibrant atmosphere of creative shops, and the laid-back pace perfectly reflects the local Vancouver lifestyle. There is a public house on the island serving small-batch craft brews that you can only find here, so if you get tired from walking, why not sit down and savor one. Taking a small ferry from downtown to the island is an interesting experience in itself, as the trip across the water takes just a few minutes.Vancouver · 7.2 km from North Vancouver

Chinatown is one of the oldest and largest in Canada, formed in the 1880s when Chinese workers settled in the area, and it has continued for over a century. The main street, Pender Street, is lined with dense, old-style buildings, and walking through it creates the illusion of being in a traditional South China market street. Most buildings in the area are two to four stories high, arranged closely along the street, and interspersed with alleys, back lanes, and internal courtyards. The architecture generally features a blend of Chinese and Western styles, with notable features including deep-recessed balconies, strong vertical lines, high-ceilinged ground floors, and mezzanines.Vancouver · 5.2 km from North Vancouver

The bridge was very scary because the each side doesn’t balance . My youngest child was a little overwhelmed, when we were trying to walk the bridge was shaking a lot. Therefore it is worth it for an experience for my kids.🤗😅😃😁

Strolling beneath the white sail-shaped roofs of Canada Place, I felt like I was sailing in the harbor! The five-sail building reflecting the shimmering waters of the bay was so stunning that I couldn't help but snap a dozen photos from different angles. Walking along the wooden walkway, watching seaplanes take off and land and seagulls fight over fries was truly captivating. I also stopped by the FlyOver Canada experience center, where the 4D flight simulator over the snow-capped mountains was incredibly realistic! The evening sun painted the harbor a molten hue. I sat on the steps, munching on ice cream and watching the cruise ships arrive and depart, lost in thought for an hour. My only complaint was the strong wind that tangled my hair—but that's Vancouver's effortless charm, huh?

Many hotels flaunt their "high-end" status, but this one hides its "thoughtfulness" in every unseen corner. The corridor carpet is short-pile, making no sound underfoot and ensuring guests in the adjacent rooms aren't disturbed. The glasses in the rooms are placed upside down on clean cotton mats, not in cheap plastic sleeves, and have a faint, sterilized scent. The minibar drinks don't feature expensive imported brands, but rather refreshing local beverages, all free of charge with no hidden costs. In the morning, sitting on the terrace, the air is filled with the fragrance of grass and trees, and complimentary cool boiled water is on a small table, each cup covered with a small dust cap. There are no grand surprises, but every detail is meticulously crafted, understated yet instantly warming your heart. This is a hotel that truly understands the meaning of accommodation.

Gastown has many pretty stores and cafes.but there are lots of homeless wandering around this area. Don’t walk around at late night. When you keep following down the Water street, you can see the steam clock and lots of designer’s stores and beautiful brunch cafes.
