Seongsan Sunrise Peak is a rare volcanic body erupting from the sea among the many craters in Jeju Island 100,000 years ago. Sunrise Peak is 182 meters above sea level. If you come here on weekends, you can see that many local Koreans, men and women, young and old, will definitely try to climb to the top of the mountain, because the more you climb up, the more breathtaking the scenery, and only when you get to the top of the mountain can you see the coastline better The vast sea and the magnificent idyllic scenery on the grassland, so since you are here, you must insist on climbing to the top of the mountain! 1.3k reviews
Haeundae Beach is located in the southeast of Busan and is an urban beach characterized by its fine white sand and shallow bay. The beach is approx. 1.5 km long with fine, soft sand, and the slope into the water is gentle, making it suitable for swimming and playing in the water. High-rise buildings and hotels are distributed around the coast, where modern urban views and the open sea complement each other, creating a unique coastal landscape. The name of the beach is related to the pen name "Haeun" of the Silla-era scholar Choi Chi-won, and the "Haeundae" inscription remains on the rocks of nearby Dongbaek Park, adding a historical touch to the coast. In summer, rows of parasols are a common sight on the beach, attracting many tourists to swim and relax. At night, the lights of the high-rise buildings reflect on the sea, and you can also enjoy the coastal night view while walking along the seaside promenade. The beach also hosts the Polar Bear Swimming Festival and the Haeundae Sand Festival, where you can enjoy large sand sculptures and related activities during the festival. During New Year's Day, the seaside is also one of the spots to watch the sunrise and welcome the new year. Restaurants and accommodation facilities are concentrated around the beach, making it suitable for both experiencing seaside leisure and enjoying the view where the city of Busan meets the ocean.South Korea · Busan

Seopjikoji

682 reviews
Seopjikoji is located in the eastern part of Jeju Island and is a cape that extends into the open sea. There are various theories about the origin of "Seopji," such as "narrow land," while "koji" is the Jeju dialect for a cape protruding into the sea. The coastline here is composed of black volcanic rock, and red volcanic scoria can be seen around Hongak, which contrasts with rocks of various shapes. The cliff top features an open grassland where Jeju horses are often seen grazing on the grassy slopes. In the distance, the sea is blue, and you can also overlook Seongsan Ilchulbong, which is approx. 180m above sea level. This place was a filming location for the Korean drama "All In," and the scenes in the drama featuring the grassland, coastline, and white lighthouse left a deep impression. Other film and television works such as "Eyes of Dawn" and "High Kick!" were also filmed here. Walking along the coastal trail, you can see the white lighthouse standing high on the grassy slope, and after climbing the steps, you can look out over the winding coastline. The Seonseol Rock on the nearby sea is also quite unique, and there is a local legend that the son of the Dragon King waited for a fairy and then turned into a rock. The grassland also preserves a stone beacon mound from the Joseon Dynasty, which was used in the past to transmit coastal defense messages using fire and smoke. Along the path leading to the lighthouse, you can see the windbreak stone walls common in Jeju. The canola flower fields inside the walls turn golden yellow in spring, forming a coastal view together with the grassland, strange rocks, lighthouse, and the sea. Strolling along the trail, you can enjoy the coastal scenery and grassland views all the way.South Korea · Seogwipo

Woljeongri Beach is located on the coastline of northeastern Jeju Island, known for its fine white sand and clear, light turquoise water. The nearshore water is shallow and the waves are gentle, making it incredibly pleasant to take off your shoes and stroll through the surf. Looking out at the sea, a row of white wind turbines stands in the distance, creating a highly recognizable backdrop. The colorful chairs lined up on the beach facing the ocean are a popular photo spot. On sunny days, the water is crystal-clear, making every shot picture-perfect. It is also a well-known spot on Jeju Island for watching the sunrise; in the early morning, photography enthusiasts often wait on the beach for the sun to rise above the horizon. In the summer, you can also see visitors surfing and kayaking. Drying squid is also a unique fishing village scene here, with rows of squid slowly air-drying in the sea breeze, adding a touch of local charm. Along the coastal road behind the beach, there is a row of charming cafes. Many shops feature floor-to-ceiling glass windows facing the ocean, where you can order a coffee and simply relax while gazing out at the sea.South Korea · Jeju City

Hamdeok Beach is located in the northeastern part of Jeju Island. Due to its proximity to Seoubong Peak, it is also known as Hamdeok Beach. It is famous for its white sandy beach and emerald-colored water, and is known as the Maldives of South Korea, making it one of the representative beaches on Jeju Island. Tall palm trees at the entrance sway in the sea breeze, and the water is so clear that you can see the sand and seaweed on the seabed. The water is shallow and the sand is fine, making it suitable for swimming and family-friendly water play. There is an offshore boardwalk on the west side of the beach, where you can stroll and enjoy the ocean view. The white lighthouse on the basalt coast guides fishing boats and is also a great place to watch the sunset. Nearby Seoubong Peak is covered with golden canola flowers in spring and is lush green in summer. You can hike to the top along the trail to overlook the entire bay, and on clear days, you can even see Hallasan National Park in the distance. The ocean-facing lawn nearby is suitable for picnics and relaxation. Jeju Olle Trail Route 19 passes through here, allowing visitors to hike along the coast or experience activities such as surfing, jet skiing, and banana boating. There is also a pet-friendly beach area, making it convenient for visitors to bring their dogs to enjoy the water. Even if you don't participate in water activities, you can take a walk along the coast, splash in the waves, enjoy the sunset, and experience the coastal scenery of Jeju Island.South Korea · Jeju City

Haedong Yonggungsa Temple

447 reviews
Haedong Yonggungsa Temple is situated on the cliffs of the east coast of Busan, a Buddhist temple nestled between the mountains and the sea. Legend has it that the temple was founded in 1376 by the monk Naong, who served as the royal preceptor to King Gongmin. It was later destroyed by war and rebuilt in the 1930s under the guidance of monks from Tongdosa Temple. In 1974, the head monk Jeong-am dreamed of the White-robed Guanyin ascending to heaven on a dragon while praying, which is how the temple got its name, adding a legendary touch to this seaside temple. Descending 108 stone steps from the entrance leads to the temple, passing by Sunrise Rock, which is perfect for viewing the sea and sunrise. The temple buildings are distributed along the coastal cliffs; the Seawater Guanyin statue faces the sea, the Main Hall (Daeungjeon) is decorated with traditional dancheong paintings, and the Cave Dharma Hall (Gulbeopdang) is built into a rock cave, enshrining a seated Maitreya Buddha. The Four-Lion Three-Story Stone Pagoda in front of the Main Hall is also a unique feature, with the 4 stone lions displaying expressions of joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness, respectively. In addition, the temple also has a Dragon King Hall and stone carvings such as the 12 zodiac animal statues. In spring, cherry blossoms near the entrance add color to the temple. Around Buddha's Birthday, rows of colorful lanterns are hung throughout the temple, and at night, the lights reflect off the ocean waves, creating a unique scene. Strolling along the stone steps and viewing areas, you can enjoy the combined scenery of the temple architecture, coastal rocks, and the vast sea.South Korea · Busan

Udo

4.7/5
1.9k reviews
Udo, known by various names such as Coral Island, Haenyeo Island, and Lighthouse Island, is a small island located in the eastern part of Jeju. The island is shaped like a lying cow, hence the name Udo, which means "Cow Island." Apart from the parasitic volcano Udobong of Hallasan, the island is generally flat, with steep cliffs where it meets the sea. 80% of the filming for Jeon Do-yeon's "My Mother, the Mermaid" took place on Udo. Choi Ji-woo's "Now and Forever" and Jun Ji-hyun's "Il Mare" also featured scenes shot on Udo, making it one of Jeju's representative tourist attractions. The peak standing on the flat land of Udo is Udobong. Its unique height offers a panoramic view of Udo and even a glimpse of Seongsan Ilchulbong. Climbing up the slope along the fence to the top, you arrive at the white lighthouse. The path connecting the lawn and the reed field seems more charming than the view from the top of the lighthouse. A few cows scattered among the bushes remind visitors of the island's name. Unknown wildflowers sway in the wind, creating a romantic scene akin to a lyrical poem. There are also miniature models of lighthouses such as the Sokcho Lighthouse and the Pagoda Lighthouse on display here. The path to the lighthouse is quite steep, making it unsuitable for the elderly or infirm to climb. Additionally, "Udo Eight Views" are the representative landscapes of Udo, including four pairs of scenes: Day and Night (Daytime Moon, Night Fishing Sails), Heaven and Earth (Tianjin Mountain View, Dito Green Sand), Front and Back (Front Port Island View, Back Sea Cliff), East and West (East Coast Whale Cave, West Beach White Sand). The Back Sea Cliff and East Coast Whale Cave, part of the Udo Eight Views, are located under the towering Udobong. The Back Sea Cliff is 20 meters high and 30 meters wide, surrounding the Black Sand Beach, famous for its black sand. The East Coast Whale Cave, located at the end of the beach, is one of Udo's famous caves, named for its capacity to hold eastern whales, also known as "Nose Cave." The entrance to the East Coast Whale Cave is visible only at low tide. Enjoying the outside sky and sea view from inside the cave offers a unique experience.South Korea · Jeju City

I visited Jeju Island during my trip to South Korea. Located in southwestern South Korea, Jeju Island is the largest island in the country and its only special autonomous province. The direct flight from Guangzhou to Jeju Island takes about two and a half hours. Jeju Island is famous for its volcanic landscape and mild climate, earning it the nickname "Korea's Hawaii." In 2007, its natural landscapes, including Hallasan Mountain and lava caves, were listed as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. Famous attractions on the island include Hallasan Mountain, lava caves, Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, and the Olle Trails, among others.

In the height of summer, Seoul Tower is more tiring with its uphill climb, but less of a hassle waiting for the cable car. It's a must-see attraction for first-time visitors. You can choose whether or not to go up the tower at your own expense; it's similar to the Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai. The all-glass bathrooms inside the tower are a major highlight! 😂

Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak is an iconic World Natural Heritage site on Jeju Island. This "green crown," formed by an underwater volcanic eruption, rises majestically from the sea, its massive crater at the summit creating a stunning contrast with 99 other uniquely shaped peaks. Not only is it an exceptional spot for watching the sunrise over the sea, but climbing to the top also offers panoramic views of the azure ocean and the beautiful Udo Island. It's an unmissable destination for anyone visiting Jeju Island to experience the wonders of nature.

It is a very iconic spot in Busan. A myraid of houses in different colour makes a beautiful view. Grab some drink and snack on the way up the hill. U must to go the flipbook studio. It is good for couples. If you dont have time, dont need to climb to the top and take pic with the little prince. There is nothing special.

Busan's sea doesn't need filters or extensive planning. Just looking at the lighthouse and listening to the waves is enough to while away the time. - 🚠 Coastline At Haeundae Beach, you can take the Sky Capsule or the Coastal Train. Unfortunately, both were sold out, so you'd have to enjoy the coastal scenery on foot. - ☕️ Sandy Blue There are many cafes along the beach, some with long queues. I randomly went into Sandy Blue; there's a window on the second floor facing the lighthouse. -

Also known as Seopji Cape, it's a volcanic rock cape on the east coast of Jeju Island. It's located in Seongsan-eup, Seogwipo City, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, near Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak. The name means: "Seopji" is an ancient place name, and "Gaji" is a Jeju dialect word referring to an outward-protruding terrain. Formed by a volcanic eruption approximately 200,000 years ago, the basalt coastline is open to the public free of charge. The cliffside meadows are treeless, offering expansive views; black basalt reefs contrast beautifully with the azure sea and sky, with a magnificent rock rising from the sea. The white lighthouse is a landmark, accessible by climbing to overlook the coastline; stone walls and rapeseed fields (golden in April) line the path. An ancient beacon tower (stone structure, approximately 4 meters high) is preserved. It was a filming location for the Korean dramas *All In* and *Queen In-hyun's Man*, and features the "All in House" drama museum.

The island has its own unique atmosphere that you won’t find on Jeju or on the Korean mainland. You can circle the island on an electric bike in 4–5 hours, but I’d dedicate a whole day to this trip. And be sure to try the local culinary delights.
