Things to do in Wuxi

During crab season, my family and I drove to Wuxi. Yuantouzhu is a well-established tourist attraction with mature facilities. We took a shuttle bus inside, then a boat to the island. From the island, we enjoyed the expansive view of Taihu Lake and strolled along the shore taking photos – a perfect place to relax and unwind.

Bringing the kids to Nianhua Bay is a great experience; the Zen-inspired town atmosphere is amazing! During the day, the waterways and bridges are tranquil and elegant, while the light show and performances at night are particularly stunning, much to the children's delight. A leisurely stroll is very soothing, and the night view is definitely a highlight – a must-visit for a family trip!

If it's not too crowded, it's quite worth a stroll. There are small bridges and flowing water, the Second Spring Under Heaven, and Xihui Park connected to it. However, the park closes at 5 pm, which is quite early. You'll probably need about an hour and a half to explore it.

Excellent! The uncle was very friendly, and the breakfast he made was delicious. The location was very close to the Big Buddha. Coming back was also very convenient. A very pleasant experience, I would stay there again next time.

This attraction is definitely worth a visit! When we came, there weren't many tourists, and the electric carts saved us time and effort. A pleasant surprise was that the area around the Buddha's feet had an elevator, which was very convenient for visitors. Traveling during off-peak hours made for a fantastic experience! Although there were quite a few steps, I was able to manage them easily, even with my average stamina. I highly recommend experiencing it.

Since my hotel was near Liyuan Garden, I went there as well. Perhaps it wasn't the right season or the weather was bad, as it felt a bit desolate, and many of the flowers had withered. It must be very beautiful if I went during a better season.

Yaohu Town is picturesque, surrounded by bamboo forests, exuding the poetic charm of Jiangnan. A miniature train winds its way through the woods. With its rich ceramic culture, every step reveals a new vista, offering a tranquil and romantic escape – a perfect place for relaxation and a vacation.

Nanchang Street is more beautiful at night than during the day. The lanterns are lit, and the old houses along the canal are reflected in the water. The street is lined with restaurants and small shops, and some alleys are quieter. You can watch the boats go back and forth on the bridge and hear the sounds of Suzhou storytelling drifting from the teahouses. There are many street food stalls; try the magnolia cakes and plum blossom cakes. The street is lively but not too noisy, perfect for an evening stroll after dinner.

This must be the culture and commerce that gradually formed along the banks of the canal. The total length is several kilometers, but I only walked less than a kilometer. Various small shops line the canal, and you can also see elderly people who run small businesses on their own property. It's best to go at night when the atmosphere is nice.

Meiyuan Garden was built in 1912 by the brothers Rong Zongjing and Rong Desheng, pioneers of national industry and commerce, with the initial intention of "spreading fragrance throughout the world." In 1955, it was donated to the nation free of charge by Rong Yiren. The garden contains well-preserved historical sites such as Songbin Hall (Nanmu Hall), Nianqu Pagoda, and Lenong Villa. In 2006, it was listed as a national key cultural relics protection unit.
