Photos of Admont Abbey Library

The Admont Abbey Library is located in Admont, a small town by the Enns River in Austria, attached to the Admont Abbey. When Admont Abbey was founded, a large number of books were kept from St. Peter's Priory, which laid the foundation for the development of the library. The library was officially established in 1776, designed by the Viennese architect Johann Huber, and is the largest monastic library in the world. Among the oldest monastery libraries in Europe, the Admont Abbey Library can be regarded as the one with a longer collection of books. The interior of the library is beautifully decorated, and the white two-story closet-style bookcase is full of hardcover books. There are no desks here as this library is mainly for visiting.
