Small museum
Small museum regarding the history of the area and the making of salt. Entrance fee is only 200 yen, so worth dropping by when visiting the Remains of Ako Castle.
I stopped by when I visited the ruins of Ako Castle. Of course, there were exhibitions related to the location and Roshi Ako, but there were also exhibitions related to salt making and water, so I was able to tour more interesting than I expected. It was a discount for JAF. The building was like a rice warehouse. Shooting was prohibited inside.
A museum that imitates a rice warehouse built on the site of the rice warehouse of Shimizumon, where Kuranosuke Oishi left when he handed over Ako Castle. Inside, the history of the Ako region, the salt industry of Ako, Ako Castle and castle town, and the Ako incident are exhibited. In addition, there are materials and actual exhibitions about ako water supply, which is one of the three major water supply in Japan along with Kanda kamisui and Fukuyama kamisui.
It is one of the museums I entered when I traveled to Ako. This is a small town, but as expected, it is the hometown of Roshi Ako, and there are quite a few related museums. In addition to Roshi-related items, there were plenty of exhibits of salt and water supply. The Kura-style building is also nice.
I was able to enter for 160 yen with a JAF discount for 200 yen. The exhibits include salt making method, salt making equipment, and Roshi Ako. 2 You can also watch videos on the floor, which was quite substantial for this price.
