It opened in 1929 and was originally called the Smith Young Tower, which the Smith brothers bought in 1943. In 1953, a TV transmission tower was added to the structure. This zoo has a lot of animals to see. it's a great zoo. The only downside is the parking so either get there early. All the indoor exhibits close at 5. The elephants had already been put up by the time we made it around to view them.
