Monument
Monument, located next to the station. Picture shows location from 5 th floor of Ryukan Yunoya on a rainy day in September . I wish we could learn more about the person.
As soon as you exit the Iizaka Onsen station, you will find a statue of Basho Matsuo in front of you. He said that he took a bath in Iizaka Onsen with Sora on the way to the back road. It is a hot spring area with a connection with Basho Matsuo.
It is a statue and monument of Poet Basho Matsuo at the foot of the bridge, just in front of Iizaka Onsen Station. It seems that there is a fact that he visited Iizaka Onsen in the 17th century, and it is named after that.
When you leave Iizaka Onsen Station, you will be greeted first. I am glad that this hot spring area is cherished by people 々 in the past and now because there is a record of staying at Iizaka Onsen on the way to the trip.
There is a memorial statue of Basho and Sora in front of Fukushima Station, but for some reason there is no Sora at the foot of Toamibashi. I was disappointed only by Sora, who was caring about his master and taking care of him on the way to the trip. The two left Fukagawa in Edo on the 2nd year of Genroku (1689) 3 month 27. It was Basho 45 years old and Sora 40 years old on a long trip over about 5 Month 600 Ri (2400km). It was 5 ... that passed through the shimotsuke and passed the sukagawa River across the entrance of Mutsu 'Shirakawa no Seki' on April 20 and took the inn in iizaka.
