Horoka Station Ruin - ruin is the right word for this

Although the pictures here show lots of green, that is all there is to see of this former station except for the cement platform and the white station sign showing that you are at Horoka. If you want...

    Station name

    Original Text

Visited 10/8. The platform and rails of the old Shihoro Line are left. It's grassy, but not enough to cover the rails. The station name sign is very beautiful, but is it because it is repaired for sightseeing? It's very shiny.

There are many platforms and tracks left.

The site of Horoka Station on the former Jnr Shihoro Line. There is a parking lot along the national highway, so you can park your car and walk to see it. A place where many people visited and worked. It's now a place where there are no people. The platform and railroad tracks remain, and the past is reminiscent. It is designated as a national registered tangible cultural property.

    Silently in the woods.

    Original Text

There is no station building, but a platform and a part of the railroad tracks are left. It makes me lonely when I look at the station name display board that stands quietly in the quiet forest. The autumn leaves were beginning to color, so I felt sad. It is right next to the snow removal station.

I visited when I participated in the "Former Jnr Shihoro Line Concrete Arch Bridge Group" at the Higashi Daisetsu Nature Guide Center. I walked along the remaining railroad tracks while receiving explanations about the station building and villages that used to be there. I think it is a place where you can think about the changes of the times and nature.
