Huitong Bridge

Huitong Bridge is the throat of the Myanmar Highway, and it is also the end point of the Japanese army's advance, and the starting point of the Chinese army's opening of the Great Counter-Offensive in the West of the Yangtze River. Now Huitong Bridge stands quietly at the bottom of the gushing Nu River, and the bridge has been restored to its original appearance, with bunkers and signs, and the iconic tiger mouth still standing. There are no houses in the surrounding valleys. Laping Township is the closest residential area to Huitong Bridge, where there are accommodations and restaurants. The section of the Myanmar Highway still in use passes through the new bridge a few hundred meters downstream. The roar of the Nu River has made the Huitong Bridge more peaceful. Compared with many popular attractions in Yunnan, there are not many tourists coming to Longling. Most of the visitors who came to the Western Resistance War of Condolences walked to Songshan. Few people went to Huitong Bridge. After all, the traffic was still inconvenient. From the peak of Songshan Mountain nearly 2,000 meters above sea level, along the Myanmar Highway. Vertical decline of 1200 meters to get to Huitong Bridge, mountain road twists and turns, driving for an hour and a half. The shuttle bus from Longling to Shidian will pass, but there are too few shifts.

Huitong Bridge, built in the end of the Ming Dynasty, was originally a chain cable bridge, located 600 kilometers from Myanmar Highway (China Section). Under the bridge is the Nu River, between the high mountain canyons, the river beach is dangerous, known as the "Tianzhu". The water flow is very rapid, and occasionally there is a water drop, as if roaring, awe-inspiring.

In winter, the Nu River was clear and slow, and I couldn't appreciate the wildness. It is very difficult to walk tens of miles from Songshan to Huitong Bridge, and the road is narrow and curved. Going to Huitong Bridge is basically a historical understanding, not interesting. There is no charge at present, and there is no dedicated parking lot.
