Baranof Castle State Historic Site

Pretty viewpoint but no castle

This is really just a viewpoint looking over downtown Sitka and the harbor. There are no ruins left. The view is pretty and it does not take long to see and there are signs explaining the history.

Worth the Stairs - Great View

Castle no longer exists but the stairs lead you to a lookout on the grounds where it used to be. You get pretty good views of the harbour and downtown Sitka, good photo opportunities. Lots of plaques ...

Great views from the top!

It’s worth the walk up the stairs to see this historic site and the beautiful views of Sitka and surrounding areas. Take the time to read the information boards along the wall.
