It's been a while but I was there with my Dad and we were there to see St Edmunds Church where a long ago relative (1500s) was the Vicar of the Church and happened to stop in the Sailors Reading Room....
I loved this little place - free to enter and right by the seafront. It is full of interesting artefacts and memorabilia an a great place to just sit and chill.
Hidden gem - Quiet relaxing space, full of history
Very much a hidden gem. Free to enter but make a contribution towards upkeep by tapping your card on the contactless reader. Good place to sit and read, or just chill out. Newspapers were provided...
Just wonderful
A wonderful place for contemplating life and remembering the maritime history of Southwold. Long may it survive as there is nowhere like it
Really worth your time

Warm, quiet and atmospheric
Spent a lovely quiet two hours reading my latest book to the sound of a ticky clock. Went back the next day to do it again too. Very cathartic.
