YYeshimmmm: The reception staff are good. However, the hotel needs a bit of improvement as everything is too old and there are missing items in the room. For example, after a shower, there's no heated towel rail or even a hook for towels. The bathroom doors look very old. I understand it's an economy room, and I'm not expecting luxury, but seeing that door while using the toilet isn't very pleasant. There should also be a full-length mirror in the room.

Built amphitheatrically along the slopes of Mount Symvolo over the North Aegean coast, Kavala seamlessly layers Byzantine strongholds, grand Ottoman architecture, and a unhurried coastal Greek vibe. As Northern Greece’s second-largest port city after Thessaloniki, this historic hub offers a captivating open-air architectural journey! Key Landmarks & Architectural Highlights 📍 · 🌉 Kamares Aqueduct: The undisputed symbol of Kavala! Constructed during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent in the 16th century, this towering stone monument features 60 arches stretching 280 meters across the modern cityscape. · 🏰 Panagia (Old Town): A enchanting maze of steep cobblestone alleys atop the promontory. Lined with colorful Ottoman-era residences, traditional sachnisi (wooden overhanging balconies), and tranquil courtyards leading up to the 15th-century Byzantine fortress. · 🕌 Imaret Complex: A magnificent masterpiece of late Ottoman Islamic architecture built in 1817 by Muhammad Ali Pasha. Featuring lead-roofed domes, arcaded courtyards, and tranquil reflection pools, this former madrasa now operates as a beautifully restored luxury hotel. · ⛪ Church of Saint Nicholas: A fascinating study in adaptive architectural reuse. Originally constructed as an Early Christian basilica, converted into the grand Ibrahim Pasha Mosque in 1530, and re-consecrated in the 1920s as an Orthodox church with a bell tower replacing the original minaret. · ⛵ Harbor & Waterfront Promenade: Below the old town walls, modern ferry terminals contrast with traditional wooden fishing boats. Along the harbor, local life unfolds at a relaxed pace around seaside cafes and card games in waterfront garages. Best Panoramic Viewpoint 📸 · 📍 Amerikanikou Erithrou Stavrou Street: Heading into the center along this main coastal road offers the premier viewpoint over Kavala! From here, the sweeping arches of the Kamares Aqueduct align perfectly with the blue bay, the busy harbor below, and the rising historic hill of Panagia. How to Get There & Practical Logistics ✈️🚗🚌 · ✈️ By Air: Kavala International Airport "Alexander the Great" (KVA) is located ~30 km east in Chrysoupoli, offering domestic connections to Athens and seasonal direct flights across Europe. · 🚗 By Car: Located directly along the A2 Egnatia Odos highway (~1.5-hour drive / 150 km from Thessaloniki, and ~4.5 to 5 hours from Istanbul via the Kipoi border crossing). · 🚌 By Bus: KTEL Kavala operates regular intercity buses from Thessaloniki’s Macedonia Intercity Bus Station (~2 to 2.5 hours). · ⛴️ By Ferry: Kavala Port serves as a major gateway running scheduled ferries to North Aegean islands including Lemnos, Lesbos, Chios, and Agios Efstratios. #hiddengems #europetrip #travel2026 #travel #staycation #seascapes #myitinerary #greece #greecetravel #greecehiddengems #travelgreece #希臘旅行 #卡瓦拉 #kavala #europetravel

Greece has Santorini and Mykonos. But in the eastern Aegean lies an island that has been shaped by mastic, the resin of the lentisk tree that grows only here. Chios is a small settlement of neoclassical houses, a harbor lined with cafés, and a landscape of rocky hills and turquoise bays. The island is famous for its mastic villages and its medieval history. Here is how to explore this hidden Greek gem and save money with Trip.com. 1. The Harbor at Dawn: Sea and Silence Chios's harbor, in the town of Chios, is the heart of the island, lined with neoclassical houses, cafés, and fishing boats. By 10 AM, the day-trippers arrive. Come at 6 AM instead. The water is glass. The light is soft. You will walk along the waterfront with only the sound of gulls and the lapping of waves. It feels like a place where time has stood still. Pro Tip: Download the Trip.com offline map for Chios. It shows you the quietest routes along the harbor and the hidden viewpoints. The best photos are from the pier at sunrise, when the water glows. 2. The Mastic Villages: A Unique Heritage Southern Chios is home to the mastic villages, a group of medieval settlements built to protect the precious mastic trees. The villages are a maze of stone houses, narrow lanes, and Byzantine churches. The most famous is Pyrgi, with its black-and-white geometric patterns. Come early. The villages are quiet, and the light is soft. Money Hack: The mastic villages are free to visit. Skip the expensive guided tours. Drive or take the local bus to Pyrgi and Mesta. Check Trip.com for a "Chios Mastic Villages Guide" that shows you the best villages and the quietest times to visit. 3. The Beaches: Coves and Turquoise Water Chios is surrounded by beautiful beaches, from the long curve of Karfas to the hidden coves along the coast. The water is clear and turquoise. The landscape is rugged. Come in the afternoon. The light is golden, and the sea shimmers. Budget Advice: The beaches are free. Skip the expensive boat tours. Take the local bus or rent a scooter. Check Trip.com for a "Chios Beach Guide" that shows you the best coves and the quietest times to visit. 4. Food That Tastes Like the Aegean Chiote food is hearty and fresh. Try Grilled Octopus — tender and smoky, served with lemon. Order Mastic Sweets — the local specialty, made with mastic resin. And do not miss Baklava — layers of phyllo, nuts, and honey. Where to Eat: Skip the expensive restaurants on the waterfront. Walk into the side streets and find Taverna Chios or To Limani, where locals eat. The food is authentic, and the prices are fair. Check Trip.com for set menu deals — some places include a glass of local wine when you book through the app. Where to Stay? Book on Trip.com a guesthouse in Chios town or Pyrgi. Look for something near the harbor or the mastic villages. You will sleep in a neoclassical room with a balcony, a view of the sea, and the scent of jasmine. The evenings are quiet, and the stars are bright. Conclusion: Chios is not a place you rush through. It is a place you breathe in. It is a town of mastic and history, of neoclassical charm and quiet coves. It is a place where the past is present in every stone. Greece is a country of islands and ancient wonders, but Chios is its mastic soul. Come and walk the harbor at dawn. The island is waiting. #trip_com #Greece #Chios #chiostravel #GreeceHiddenGems #Aegean #MasticVillages #BudgetTravel #EuropeGuide #travelgreece #Pyrgi #HiddenGreece #IslandLife #TurquoiseWater #Mastic

Kompos Beach on Patmos is one of those places that instantly makes you slow down, smile, and stay a little longer than planned 💙 The bay is beautifully calm, the water is that magical Aegean blue, and the whole setting feels wonderfully unspoiled yet comfortable. If you are visiting Kompos Beach, Sea n’ Sun is the beach restaurant you really should not miss, because it adds the perfect food-and-drinks moment right by the sandSitting right on the beach, Sea n’ Sun makes the experience even better with a relaxed beachside feel and tasty food by the sea. 🕊️ The Soul of Patmos Patmos has a deep spiritual and historical identity, which gives the island such a special atmosphere ✨ It is famously associated with Saint John the Theologian, and the Monastery of Saint John the Theologian and the Cave of the Apocalypse are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. That historical and religious background gives Patmos a timeless charm that makes even a beach day feel meaningful. 🏝️ About Kompos Beach Kompos Beach, also known as Kampos Beach, is located in the northeastern part of Patmos, below the village of Kampos / Kambos and about 9–11 km north of Chora, with Skala, the port town, not far away. It is a long, organized beach with clear water, shade from trees, and plenty of space to relax, which is why it is so loved by visitors. The atmosphere is laid-back, but it still has the little comforts that make a beach day extra easy. ⛳️Location Kompos Beach is located in the Kampos area on the northeastern side of Patmos, around 4.5 km from Skala, the island’s port town, so it’s easy to include in a beach day itinerary. You can get there by bus from Skala, and if you’re already staying nearby in Kampos, it’s also possible to walk; otherwise, bus, taxi, scooter, or car is the more comfortable option . 🍹 Sea n’ Sun by the Beach Sea n’ Sun sits directly on Kampos Beach, and its beachfront setting makes it ideal for a long lunch or sunset drink. Fresh seafood, cold drinks, and that sea view make it a very easy recommendation. 🚢 How to Reach Patmos Getting to Patmos is part of the adventure. The island does not have an airport, so travelers usually arrive by ferry, most commonly via Skala port, from Piraeus and nearby islands in the Dodecanese and Aegean. Once on Patmos, you can reach Kompos Beach from Skala by taxi, scooter, rental car, or local transport, and the drive is short and straightforward. 👣 Walkability and Comfort Kompos Beach is easy to enjoy once you arrive, and the beach area itself is comfortable for strolling and settling in. A pair of sandals is still a good idea because the sand and natural ground can be uneven in places. It is the kind of beach where you can spend hours without rushing, especially when the sea is this inviting. 😋 Why It Stands Out My favorite part was how naturally everything came together — swimming, relaxing, and then having a great meal at Sea n’ Sun right on the beach 😍 Kompos Beach gives you that classic Patmos calm, while the restaurant makes the whole experience feel complete. It is the kind of place that stays in your memory long after the trip is over. #greece #greecetravel #greeceisland #Patmos #拔摩島 #愛琴海 #希臘 #希臘假期 #island #islandvibes

It’s ideal for travelers seeking culture, nature, and local life rather than mass tourism. Life moves slowly, and visitors are welcomed warmly, especially in villages. Safety: Chios is very safe and calm. Basic care with belongings is sufficient. Dress & comfort: Casual and comfortable clothing works best. Bring good walking shoes if you plan to explore villages and archaeological sites. #summerdestinations Visiting the Chios Mastic Museum was a fascinating part of my summer vacation! 🌿 Located on the island of Chios, Greece, this museum is dedicated to the unique mastic gum that is native to the region. The entrance fee was around €6, and it was well worth it for the detailed exhibits and interactive displays about the history and production of mastic. 🏛️ The museum offers a deep dive into the traditional methods of mastic cultivation and its cultural significance, making it both educational and engaging. We also explored the nearby medieval village of Pyrgi, known for its intricate architectural patterns and charming atmosphere. 🏘️ If you’re on Chios, the Mastic Museum provides an insightful glimpse into a fascinating local tradition and is a great complement to the island’s other attractions. #trip #localguides #Chios #MasticMuseum #Greece #CulturalExperience

The windmills of Tampakika, built after the destructive earthquake of 1881, are two storied structures with height of approximately 10 metres. They belong to the architectular style of mediterranean stonemade towermills, specimens of which hosted the island since the era of Genoese occupation (1346-1566). Some of the mills possessed warehouses at their bases.
