Concord Moments: Through Travelers' Eyes

Post
Every fall, the New England area becomes a global hotspot for maple viewing, perfect for both photography enthusiasts and parent-child getaways. Among them, along New Hampshire’s rural highways, more known as the classic autumn scenic route, the mountains are full of red, yellow and orange intertwined, forming a super fantastic maple leaf painting. Not only is it great for taking pictures, but it’s also great for self-drive tours to feel the intoxicating autumn colors and authentic American town style.

Recommended drive/tour routes:
You can start from Concord and take Route 112 (aka Kancamagus Highway) towards Lincoln. It is approximately 56 kilometers long and is known as the best maple-viewing highway in New England. It is recommended to leave in the morning on a sunny day to avoid the crowds and take the most beautiful morning maple views.
Must-stop stops on the way include: Sabbaday Falls, Sugar Hill Scenic Vista and Rocky Gorge. There are enough parking spaces at each viewing point for slow walking and slow photography.
It is recommended to reserve half a day to a day to relax and feel the scenery along the way.

Must-play highlights & photo spots:
1. Multiple observation decks on Kancamagus Highway – with a full view of the hills and maples
2. Sabbaday Falls – Fairytale-like path, fresh and healing
3. Sugar Hill Scenic Vista - Best open mountain view angle, a must-see for photography
4. Via the small towns of North Conway, Lincoln - European towns tone, cafes eye-catching and good photography

Trip Tips:
1. Maple leaf season is usually the most beautiful from late September to mid-October, it is recommended to check the weather and real-time maple leaf status a week or two in advance
2. Self-driving sections are more mountainous, it is recommended to rent a car the day before;
3. Warm and convenient hiking shoes are recommended, some viewing points require walking trails
4. Photography enthusiasts can come morning/dusk time, less crowded and beautiful light
5. Popular Restaurants and Accommodations Very packed during the Maple Leaf season, be sure to book in advance

Notes:
· There is no mobile phone network in some places along the highway, it is recommended to download the map in advance
· In autumn, the temperature difference between morning and evening is large, remember to bring a thin down or windbreaker
· Respect nature, do not litter, do not pick maple leaves

For a more in-depth experience, you can schedule a hike or stay in a forest cabin near White Mountain National Forest for a tranquil and pure natural autumn day.
