GGuest User: The hotel is immaculat, ethe staff were friendly and helpful, and although not tobmy taste, the breakfast was plentiful and varied. My only criticism is that there is very limited space in the room for storing clothes, and rooms are a tad cramped, but it is ideal for a brief over night stop for an early flight or a late arrival. There was no food on site in the evening, however we were told by the duty manager that this would be up and running by the summer season. The American diner directly behind was entered with dresd bit proved to be surprisingly good for a ”fast food” diner as everything was freshly cooked.

GGuest User: Fantastic stay; my mother, almost 88 years old, whose limitations were taken into account when booking the room, thoroughly enjoyed it! It was like Indonesia in Spain for her! Fantastic!

MMarta Oliver Tizón: We liked it a lot since it doesn't look like a roadside hotel. We appreciate the kindness of the reception and cafeteria staff and the spaciousness of their rooms since we were 3 people. I would repeat without a doubt!

GGuest User: Excellent location for Alicante Airport. Unwind in the spa, enjoy a snack in the tranquil gardens. Wake refreshed and ready for your flight. Easy transportation by hotel shuttle or taxi. Alternatively the bus stop is over the road from the hotel.

I specifically chose to visit Nizwa on a Friday to experience authentic Omani culture, hoping to see the sheep market there. However, considering it would be a waste to only visit the sheep market with my parents, I opted for two ancient villages near Nizwa. I highly recommend Mifusa Village, especially for a sunset view. ▫️Mifusa Village is 2 hours from Muscat and less than 1 hour from Nizwa. No 4WD vehicle is needed. The mountain scenery is beautiful; it's a hidden gem. ▫️Although there are some ups and downs in the village, the terrain isn't very steep or physically demanding, making it suitable for seniors and those who prefer a relaxed pace. ▫️Entrance to the village is free, and parking is unrestricted; just park properly. We chose a popular café and enjoyed a coffee with my parents as the sun set – very pleasant. ▫️There's no set route for exploring the village; you can wander around, have a coffee, and spend 1-2 hours there as you please. ▫️The nearby village of Altamira was just average; I highly recommend Misfat!

We are frequent visitors to Riu hotels, and honestly, if you're searching for a place to truly unwind and recharge, Hotel Areca is an excellent choice. From the moment you arrive, you feel an absolute sense of peace and tranquility—perfect for enjoying a few days of rest without crowds or bothersome noise. A few aspects stand out and merit special mention: · **Staff treatment:** The hotel's team is wonderful overall, always attentive, kind, and ready with a smile. However, two individuals exceeded expectations and turned our experience from very good to unforgettable: · **Sjoerd (Reception):** A flawless professional. He welcomed us with extraordinary warmth, making check-in smooth and addressing every little detail and question with utmost kindness. · **Jaqueline (Restaurant):** Her service is simply perfect. Friendly, efficient, and always ensuring we had everything we needed during meals. Finding such outstanding professionals is truly refreshing! We place great importance on staff demeanor and friendliness whenever we visit a hotel—we're sentimental about this aspect as proud Canary Islanders, haha. · **Cleanliness:** Impeccable across all areas. Both the rooms and the common spaces are maintained to perfection, providing a comforting and spotless environment throughout the stay. Ultimately, Hotel Areca is a highly recommendable choice that invites you to return, thanks to the peaceful facilities and, above all, the exceptional quality of its staff. We'll definitely be back!

Most people traveling to the Costa Blanca region head straight for the beach in Alicante. But just a few kilometers away lies one of the most unique, surprising cities in all of Spain: Elche (Elx). Did you know Elche is home to a massive UNESCO World Heritage site that is literally a forest inside the city? It’s called the Palmeral of Elche, and with over 200,000 palm trees, it feels less like Europe and more like a lush, North African oasis. 🌿🇪🇸 Walking through the city is a sensory dream: 📍 The Palmeral: Wander through infinite rows of palms. It’s the perfect, cool escape from the Spanish sun. 🏰 Historical Charm: The mix of Islamic architecture, stunning basilicas, and medieval fortifications gives Elche such a unique identity compared to other coastal cities. ⛲ Hidden Fountains: Every turn seems to reveal another beautiful plaza or a peaceful garden fountain hidden among the trees. ❓ Community Question: When you travel, are you more of a "Beach Explorer" who sticks to the coast, or a "Hidden Gem Hunter" who loves finding inland surprises like Elche? Let me know below! 👇👀 #travel2026 #couplestrip #citydaytours #travel #naturalwonders #thingstodo #myitinerary #familytravel

The museum is very interesting, providing a unique perspective on the coexistence of humans and their habitat through the study of salt. From Iberia to Rome to Spain, salt and the sea have always been central to Santa Pola Pueblo. Near the museum building, there is a lake with a wooden trail around it. The lake is home to various birds, most notably a pink flamingo! They are very beautiful, and I recommend you go see them. This information center and park make it easy for us to understand the reasons behind it. Most importantly, it's free!

Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Alicante (Region) I enjoyed walking around the centre of Elche and the Plaza del Ayuntamiento is a really nice place to relax surrounded by buildings from before the concrete era including the imposing Elche Fortress and the Town Hall. This is the kind of place that pops up on holiday nights, with the echoes from the surrounding buildings making the atmosphere lively. This is a wonderful place to take a walk and spend time with the family. There are also banks, perfume shops, pharmacies, boutiques and even a place to grab a coffee if you want. #JanuaryDestinations2025 #SpainTravel #Valencia

Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Alicante (Region) What a pleasant surprise. Tickets are €2 and free on Sundays. From the outside it looks like a simple tower, but the inside of the house is exquisite. In itself it’s like you’ve entered another era, but the different rooms mean you’re changing the atmosphere every moment. The decoration of the Masonic Room and the rooms on the first floor of the Manor House are very striking. The trompe l'oeil paintings in the church are amazing. From the upstairs terrace you can enjoy a great view of the city with its cathedral. #JanuaryDestinations2025 #SpainTravel #Valencia

During our visit to this city, we could only see the palace from the outside. The palace has a long history due to its various owners and uses. In 1970, the town hall was requisitioned, and the building underwent restoration. Continuous revitalization of the building is its story. Built in the 15th century by the city's first lord as his usual residence, it may even have Almohad walls dating back to the 12th or 13th century in its foundations. After the civil war, it became a concentration camp and prison for Republicans. It has now been magnificently restored and houses the Elche Archaeological and History Museum.

The central park has over a million trees, following the river that runs through the town center. It is one of the best parks in the province, well-cared for, clean, protected, and maintained, with a wide variety of plants and trees, most of which are palm trees. It is an important part of the UNESCO-recognized World Heritage Site palm grove. The Royal Palm Tree is worth seeing for its uniqueness. Walking through the park with family or a partner is a pleasure. There seems to be free entry without any signs, so we just strolled around and discovered several fountains and some beautiful avenues in a lovely, litter-free environment.

A visit well worth it. This was my first time visiting the city of Elche, and without a doubt, I highly recommend this place. It's an amazing spot, a true oasis in the city center, showing respect for those who take care of it. The ticket price is 6.5 euros, which is not expensive at all for the beauty you will find inside. The route is clearly marked, and you can discover various types of palm trees, especially the royal palm trees, along with a large number of tropical plants imported from around the world - a paradise for succulent lovers! There is a restroom and a shop with affordable souvenirs and plants.

A very beautiful and charming museum with a large collection of fossils and minerals from the Valencian Community area. If you have curiosity, you can learn about different geological eras and their main characters ~ dinosaurs, fossils, etc. We visited on a Sunday, and admission was free. However, on weekdays, the entrance fee is 2 euros. If you want to move quickly, you can visit all the places within half an hour. But if you stop to carefully read all the information, you might spend more time.
