Fulda in Germany, historic, picturesque city Located in the state of Hesse between the Rhön and Vogelsberg mountains, it is renowned for its well-preserved Baroque architecture, rich religious history, and status as a vital high-speed rail hub. Founded as a Benedictine monastery in 744 AD, the city became a major European center of learning and a Christian pilgrimage site. It is the final resting place of Saint Boniface, the "Apostle of the Germans," whose tomb lies in the iconic Fulda Cathedral. Following its religious heritage, the city underwent a major redesign in the 17th and 18th centuries. The Baroque Quarter includes the impressive City Palace (Stadtschloss), the Orangery, and St. Michael's Church, which is one of the oldest medieval religious buildings in the country. Situated on the Fulda River, the city benefits from its central position in Germany. Its train station is a major Intercity Express (ICE) junction, connecting travelers to major cities like Frankfurt and Berlin in a matter of hours.
